should i?...

my company is seeking to hire part-timers…so my best friend called me up and told me a non-desi guy friend of her’s is really in need of a job. she said if i could do something for him he would really appreciate since he is getting married he’s really in need…blah blah blah…so im like ok cool email it to me.

later she calls me up and tells me in urdu (since he was right there )NOT to give my employer his resume since she asked him to look up my company on the PC and he couldnt even do that…she said that he doesnt seem so bright. lolz. then she told me to send him an email saying i forwarded the resume to my employer and assure him but not to send it for real…

ok so i sent him the email lying about sending his resume and then got a reply by him saying thanks…much appreciated etc etc…i felt like crap. i also checked out his resume and he has good enough experience. got me wondering if its ok not to give him a chance at all because my friend thought he’s a bit slow…
im wondering if i should forward his resume…but my friend made a point by saying that if he messes up the interview or gets hired and THEN messes up it will reflect badly on me :frowning: dunno what to do… :frowning:

Re: should i?...

the best thing you can do for all the parties concerned is to be honest. Tell the people at your work that he may be a bit lacking in skills but that he really wants to work so maybe what he lacks in shmartz may be overcome with his enthusiasm. Tell the doubtful friend that he will be given a chance with an interview - the rest will be up to him.

this way, you're doing the best for everyone concerned.

Re: should i?...

If you think he has potential (according to his resume), then you can give it to HR and just let them know that you don't actually know him or what his work experience is like since he is a friend of a friend, so HR can then do whatever tests they need to do and won't just rely on you as his reference, therefore keeping yourself clear of any blame. You can also let your friend know that you forwarded the resume to HR and are leaving it up to them to decide if he is a good candidate or not.

Re: should i?...

dont u think if i tell my boss that he is a bit lacking in skills it will destroy his chances for an interview....?

Re: should i?..

You crooked liar :hoonh:

just forward him and company will evaluate him. The company is not an infant that you are trying to baby sit

And stop decieving poor guy:bailan:

Man ! girls are evil
We can’t trust them nowadays

Re: should i?...

...not particularly, it depends on the type of job it is. If motivation and dedication are more important than "smarts" then the friend has a good chance. This gives you the opportunity to present this guy - without guilt or pretense - and it gives the guy a better, more realistic shot at a potential job. If your company decides not to even interview him, well, you tried honestly. And maybe, possibly, it would work out for all concerned - you never know unless you try, ya?

Re: should i?...

yeah i think im just gonna forward it saying i dont know him.........

Re: should i?...

That's bad.

Just let the guy apply himself. Do not refer him but tell him how he can apply. If he is good, he would manage to get the job.

Re: should i?...

TNWB too late i already told him i forwarded it :(

oh well thanks all of u anyways.

code-red too....for making me feel like sh*it

Re: should i?...

Doesnt matter shweet. You can still tell him that although you've forwarded his CV but it would be better for him to do so and so.... otherwise it's unlikely on securing the job. I mean make any excuse to give him a hint that he must try himself. Whatever you can think of.

Re: should i?...

Forward it, it'll make you feel better. You are not in charge of hiring him so if he messes up it shouldn't reflect badly on you. Its not like you told HR he is a gem.

Re: should i?...

my 2 cents: everyone brings their own 'rizq' in this world, forward the resume and let that be it.. people in hr are not COMPLETELY slow.. if he gets hired, he would be worth keeping in the company..

Re: should i?...

yeah i forwarded it....and i emailed him saying that they will definitely call him if they are interested. I told the manager he is a friend of a friend...so i dont know him....

Re: should i?..

Shweet, ur company’s looking to hire??? Damnit girl why didnt u tell me i wanna job!! :mad2:

Re: should i?...

lol send me your resume.........
and what are you wearing on saturday?

Re: should i?...

will you forward my resume to your HR department? I am pretty ishmart, I think.
