2 things bother me - I made the assumption that you have an increasing sense of guilt these days (or maybe you have always been like this).

Secondly, it bothers me when women who dress modestly anyway feel the need to disappear under a shell like a turtle, it’s like hiding away from the world, without a need.

Of course it is your own understanding of Islam and what you believe, but my personal view is different.

Do you wear make-up out? If so, would you try going make-up free, it may deter attention from males. (And ditch the nun look!).

I feel niqab in this country WILL attract NEGATIVE attention from males and females.

Agreed. And people will always look, its human nature. You have no reason for feeling guilty. I also believe you would attract negative attention.
