One of my very good friends is going for Hajj next montth, InshaAllah and she wants to see me before she leaves.. She has invited me over for dinner on Saturday and I am not sure what to take for her?!?!
Should it be flowers, cake, or what ??
or
Should I just take myself and my list of duas??
Flowers would be nice. Also, one of those little books with different duas in it could be quite useful for her trip eventhough Hajj groups provide them .... definitely ask her to make any specific dua you need.
Book of duas sounds good but she has a library of it and she has always given me either a book of duas or hijabs so I don't feel like repeating teh same thing.
You can give stuff that she can use during Hajj like miswaak, unscented soap ... a prayer mat is a really good idea too or even a nice abaya if you can afford it.
I think book of duas would be an excellent idea. When she comes back you can perhaps invite her for dinner. Usually i have seen people giving clothes which i dont like that idea. Picture of Khana kabah or wall hanging wont be a bad idea.
Girls please keep in mind that I live at a place where you can't even find halal meat regularly, let alone prayer rug, book of duas, or some islamic wall hangings.
I can order online but thats just a hassle and I would rather keep it simple and elegant.
I want to take something that is readily available and just as a friendly gesture, I guess.
I like the idea of inviting her over for dinner when she gets back from Hajj.
Probably I shoudl stick to flowers adn her favorite cookies.. does it look ok?
Personally whenever I'm invited for dinner, I always end up taking some kind of cake or pie or something. But I think your idea of flowers plus cookies(or some other kind of desert) is perfect. Simple and elegant. :)
I think flowers wud be better to give AFTER she gets back…there r so many presents u can give when u visit someone…a basket of tolietries, or since she is travelling, how about a travel bag or a cosmetics case…something that will help her out during her trip maybe…or if nothing else, u can never go wrong with a yummy box of chocolates
