Should I resign now?

Well i am going thru some tuff time in my life which has also decreased my performance at work to a great extent… well i knew that i am not performing well and many times i thot of resigning but then the thot of sitting idle at home made me go to office daily though i didnt feel like going or working there at all..

Now today i had my evaluation and of course my boss said that my score has decreased… he asked me the reason but i had none to tell him..anyways now am thinking seriously to resign but i feel that if i resign now, my boss might think that i am resigning coz of bad evaluation etc..but i really dun wanna work..if i go to office, i feel more depressed over there as i have no female colleague to talk to…

I basically work just to pass my time , Alhamdulillah i have no financial problems.. I just want advice that what should i do now??..should i resign the next week or not?? I dun feel like working at all in office now..:(..but what would my colleagues think of my resignation that am resigning coz my evaluation didnt go well?..i dunno what to do…plz advise..thanx..

Re: Should I resign now?

Is taking vacation (or leave without pay an option?)

Getting busy is important in tough times but if you are at the saturation point, just take time off (even if its without pay). Evan a month of vacation can do magic !

Re: Should I resign now?

neha my sincere advise to you is to not resign. Work keeps your mind busy and I can guarantee you that after quitting things will hit you more hard and it will be more tough for to handle your issues/problem/loss. when I was going through the toughest part of my life I was on maternity leave and those days at home were hard on me although I had a baby to take care of. So I have been there and I can tell you that you’ll be sorry to leave your job like that plus it won’t have good impact on your career, because after a few months or a year when you will try to get a new job , the reason for gap / space of your idle months will be questioned by the prospective employer , then what reason will you give ? it will definitaley portray that you are not serious and can leave your job any time.

please don’t take a hasty decision. it doesn’t matter if you need money or not , we don’t always work for money. Plus , I think you are subjecting yourself to further loss and in the long run you will regret it. Just think that after leaving job what you will be left with ? and how do you plan to organize and live your life ? what do you see next after quitting ? …try to ask and answer these questions from yourself and then decide.

good luck :hugz:

Re: Should I resign now?

Firstly , I would advise you not to leave your job , if its not causing a major disruption in your life. In your difficult time, sometimes , work keeps us going and motivated.

But , if you have made up your mind and feel you are being unfair to your work expectations , its better to leave now then later when things might become even worse. We all know bad evaluation a few times in a row leads to difficulties with the manager.

Thirdly, consider your manager, your friend. If you decide to leave, dont fear your colleagues. Its your manager only thats important. Others will forget everything with time. The manager might be asked to give a reference for any future positions. Hence speak to him one to one and if you feel comfortable, let him know that you are undergoing some traumatic personal problems and if he can help in anways or advise you ..

He might say, take a unpaid garden leave , until you feel settled. Or he might recomend you another less stressful job in the company. He might have a solution for you. Eventually if you both agree that you leaving the job is the best option, then at least you will know that your manager knows why you are leaving and inshallah it wont affect your career in the longer term.

I hope this helps.

I thought you was a thoti bathi

Re: Should I resign now?

**But the two main reasons for resigning are :

  • i can’t concentrate AT ALL on my work which is decreasing my performance.. Especially for the last 2-3 weeks i couldnt meet deadlines, couldnt complete the assigned work, didnt perform anything which showed my creativity thats y my boss told me today that if we get the same standard of work from some MBA as we can also get from someone that holds a bachelors degree then what’s the point of hiring an MBA..

  • i have no female colleague over there to talk to, i had one but she resigned few days ago.. i feel so lonely and at times frustrated when i am already tensed due to some personal problems and then i have to sit with my mouth shut for 10 hours.

I know if i sit at home i’ll be more frustrated but am thinking to leave the job and join some Islamic institute for a few weeks that also gives me peace of mind..But still thats my anxiety and depression, i dunno whats the right decision..:bummer:**

Re: Should I resign now?

You work just to pass your time? Wow good job. Leave that bloody job to someone who has a family to feed. People shouldn't be allowed paid work unless they need to financially support their families. Jeez. There are people out there who actually need jobs to keep their households running. Go volunteer or do research work instead if all you want is to pass your precious time.

Re: Should I resign now?

please don't quit this job, especially when there are people that are unemployed out there that haven't been lucky enough to find a job in this horrible job market.

try to take it slow, take a vacation like Decent 6Chora said

after a couple days of relaxing see if you feel strong enough to put efforts into the work that's giving you a paycheck every week. try to meet with your female friends outside of work more so you feel like somebody cares for you even if there aren't any female colleagues at work.

if you quit this job you might not find another as quickly when you're in need of one after a couple months or a year.

think this big decision through very carefully. i don't think you should quit

Re: Should I resign now?

don't leave job
Find a boy friend, hang around.
Take vacation for a month at least.

Re: Should I resign now?

dont leave the job just take a break !! go on vacations as some users have suggested u above. u will find urself a bit relax after taking the break

Re: Should I resign now?

it really depends on what kind of personal stuff you're going through and does it require your full attention to resolve those issues. So to answer your question, you yourself are the best judge here. You need to evaluate your situation in complete honesty and ask yourself that same question. No one here knows your situation and pretty much will give you run of the mill type answers.

On the professional side, your job is a full time professional commitment. People at your work place may depend on your professional integrity to get their part of job done and if you being stuck in a rut on a personal level affects your productivity at your work place, then yes, you need to re-think your priorities and find ways to resolve issues before they completely overshadow your professional life. You need to keep one thing in mind. If your employer lets you go due to performance issues, it will be a blight on your career history and you will have tough time explaining it to a future potential employer in case you seriously need a full time job.

:k:
neha, if you cant be constructive than dont be destructive. Jaanwar is right that if you have no serious problem then its better to find something that really can make good use of your brain instead of snatching someone else opportunity.

Re: Should I resign now?

I agree, take some time off but dont quit, ull regret it later
