Now that I can easily get my hands on this controversial novel (thanks to my friend), I’m pretty tempted to read it…just to get an idea. From whatever I’ve heard and read, though the novel is factually incorrect but its certainly not at the level of The Satanic Verses. The author could be criticized for her lack or quality of research and context but its said that her intentions were basically to romanticise the union of Hazrat Muhammad pbuh and Hazrat Aisha (RA).
I don’t want to read the book and feel bitter and insulted afterwards, so I want to know the severity of the factual inaccuracies before I sit down for some time pass reading.
^I wouldn't touch it unless I study Islamic History in details by Muslim scholars as well as some prominent Orientalist.
Yeah thats true, with whatever little knowledge of Islamic history I have, its really not healthy to read an ill researched piece about such prominent personalities.
Is there any intimately detailed biography of Hazrat Aisha (RA) that you would like to recommend by credible scholars?
I wouldnt read it. I read it not knowing what it was actually about, and it really bothered me. Its actually a pretty insulting book to Islam and our Prophet (SAW).
