Re: should i complain about this teacher
^ I've seen variation in responsibility when it comes to parents of many races.
But there seems to be maybe a greater.....I don't know what the appropriate word would be.....emphasis? value? for education in Asian culture.
And I've always wondered if that is because people back in the motherland understood how hard it is to make a living and feed a family without a good education especially with strained economy and lack of job opportunities. SO, therefore, they really pushed their kids to do well in school. Whereas........maybe...........in many first-world and highly developed nations.......you have the "slacking off" because there are greater job opportunities and even well-fare systems to fall back on.........hence the lax attitude? Whereas in some countries........you WILL manage to survive and earn a living with the most minimum of educational credentials............in other countries, you are SCREWED big time if you're less than "matric" pass.
