[font=Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Hi Folks!
I am from Lahore. I have Masters Degree in Business Administration. I am working experince in Accountancy/Finance/Audit. I have got Canadian immigrant visas for myself and my family. I want suggestions based on reality regarding job and living conditions in Canada. I have gone through some sites and have also discussed with some persons who have been in Canada, the response I received is very confusing and discouraging . This site has some very cool members who are definitly not biased and give great suggestions. I was going through my winding up activities inorder to come to Canada and by accident I came across a site “www.canadaimmigrants.com” which changed my mind rather which created a lot of confusion in my mind. What I understand is that life there is very tough, rather it is near to impossible to meet your ends. No immigrant gets job as per his qulaifications and/or experience. It takes about five long and labourious years to settle (if anybody is lucky enough…)but it happens if you get Canadian qualification after spending thousands of Dollars.
I have a pretty decent job here I am the only son of my parents and I have got three litle kids. I am very much worried and not finding myself able to take decision that should I come to Canada or not?
WILL ANY BODY BE KIND ENOUGH TO HELP ME OUT FROM THIS HORRIBLE DILEMMA
Thanks
Hi there,
Im in Canada, more specifically, Toronto. Here’s what i would do. I would come to Canada on my own and try to look for a job. If you cant find a job that quick as u thought, go to college/uni here. Since you have a Masters, i dont think u will have a big problem. ..
visit this site:
register and apply and upload ur resumes on these sites…this will help you a lot. I think the biggest challenge for new immigrants is the way they will live. It is very very hard to someone to come to canada without knowing anyone, family or friends. With family/friends, at least you will have some help and a start.
Insha allah whenever u do find a good job and are set, then bring ur wife and kids.
Final decision will be yours but I have two close famlies in Toronto. Both professionals from Pakistan (Banker & engineer, & Pharmacist), now working as a guard and as factory workers. Canadian simply refused to recognize their experience from Pakistan. Supporting families is kind of tough for them. If you have enough to survive for 6 months to year without doing any job than do it.
From what I understand either one needs canadian qualification or a real good reference to find a good job in Canada.
Again, final decision is yours.
Well ... may be my suggestions cant be an ideal one to you ...
but living in PAKistan is i think much more easy ...., if u have a confirmed job there and u think u can earn lot more there than pakistan .... then GO ...
otherwise in Pakistan if you have a good qualification then u can have good job ... and living in Pakistan is very cheap ....
may be i am saying this COz i Love Pakistan :) .. want to spend my life here ...
But you have to decide Dear ... Think Positive ...
and better discuss it to come people ...
GS community members inshallah will help you .. coz there are many members from canada here i think
You need three things to get a job in Canada
1) North American education
2) Canadian experience
3) Canadian references
Most people struggle with number 2 and 3. Since you don't have all three, you will face your share of challenges. Be prepared. The horror stories that you have heard about PhDs driving cabs are true. It's not that foreigners are not qualified enough, it has more to do with employer's comfort level with freshies from a different culture. Initially, things could be very tough so I wouldn't recommend you to bring your kids..nor I would suggest you to quit your current job. If it is possible then take a couple of months off and make a visit. If you want to bring your family along then make sure you have atleast six months of savings. You will need around three thousand dollars per month to make the ends meet.
Checkout the job sites which MFS has posted. You will find most employers require CGAs, CAs or MBAs with 3-5 yrs of experience. Good luck.
