SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

got a letter saying following your appointment with the maternity booking centre you have been referred to healthy preg clinic..bascially for advice on weight/diet/etc…

does this mean im too fat..?/ ? HOW embarrassing, didnt think i was. the letter was issued same day as my GTT test, so would it mean something they found in my blood? even though it was on same day, surely if they did wouldnt they have called me??

im sure im an ok weight at 29 weeks…:

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

Maybe it's standard? Why don't you ask someone?

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

you should call yoru nurse practitioner and get a clarification on it so that at least you know what you are getting into.

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

omg!!! i'm worried about weight too. i'm only at 20 weeks and i've gained like 11 lbs in only the past month.

i would've thought its normal but the fact that all this weight gain corresponds with the fact that my mother landed in my house only a month back and since then has replaced my morning cereal with parathas, afternoon fruit snack with halwa, and dinner chicken karhai or pizza or pasta with like gosht, niharis, n anything else she can think of with too much oil :(

no matter how much i try to tell her i don't wanna eat it....its like she forces me "for the baby" eventho we all know that stuff is NOT healthy for the baby either! ugghhhhh! if i was still eating my healthy salads n fruit i would be gettin more than enough nutrition without gaining extra weight for no reason. how the heck do i make her understand that this is the reason all our desi ladies end up huuuuge after havin just one baby while those gori girls pop right back to their original weight. thats why they look younger for wayy longer than us desis too :(

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

and what the heck is up with "roti bohat zaroori hoti hai"...what is roti made of thats sooo valueable? isn't it nothing more than carbs? wouldn't i be better off eating something with more protein or vitamins or fiber or SOMETHING besides plain old carbs?

p.s. sorry nadz i didn't mean to take over your thread but i was thinkin of starting the same topic today and you beat me to it :) lol.

Re: SHOULD I BE worried about weight?

My doctor and nurse have told me again and again that too much food (especially the force feedings from family) is counter productive. The excess food will only make moms butt bigger and nothing more. Baby will take whatever nutrition it needs and grow as much as he is genetically unclined to. So you eating naans, niharis, kormas, parathas has no bearing on baby's body, but just yours. However, you must focus on healthy foods and foods that it doesn't affect the size of the baby. Our desi mentalities have got to change and trust me I've been fighting this since the time I've gotten pregnant. Pregnancy is not all about food, there are more other important things to take into consideration when it comes to the health of the mom and baby.
