Should Government Abolish Anti-Terrorism Courts

The anti-terrorism courts appear to be something favourable to terrorists. The police is required to present the charges in the courts in a very short time, weeks i think and the hearings are also required to be completed quickly.

While the ordinary people charged with other crimes remain in jail for years before their cases are heard. Even when, the anti-terrorism courts sentence someone, it is then appealed in regular courts.

I think government should abolish these courts, why is there a need to prosecute and possibly release terror suspects quickly, let them be in jail and wait for there trials.

Re: Should Government Abolish Anti-Terrorism Courts

anti terrorism courts can serve their purpose well. that is, catch anyone with beard, stick a label of taliban, and quickly announce verdict against them to prove their point, and then ban the whole organization to which the govt might wrongly have related them to... because india/us/un do not like the charity work of that organization...

special courts must not be used, instead make regular courts do their job faster and cleaner

Re: Should Government Abolish Anti-Terrorism Courts

No they should not abolish, .. change the anti-terrorism laws and everything will be fine.

Re: Should Government Abolish Anti-Terrorism Courts

the number of people being released by the courts is shocking..everyone from the alleged murderer of General faisal alvi to some of the hard core elements involved in lal masid and other blasts.

Either the courts are being pressurised to release them or the system needs a major urgent overhaul
