Sadiyah, from the replies I think you got the hint that some guppies can't handle a girl talking about 'delivery guys'. It might be their dream job. tsk.
Namkeen, mostly restaurants don't want to add a gratuity charge, unless they figure out that the customers are not tipping and they have a large server turnover ratio. i.e. servers are leaving the job because they can't make enough money. Sometimes they also charge that based on the customer, i.e to those who don't pay enough tip hummm
I understand if I'm dining in, then there's more of a reason to tip the waiter/waitress. Although I'm aware they do get paid for working there, but it's still acceptable I suppose.
Whereas, tipping someone for delivery when I've already paid for delivery doesn't make sense, unless it could somehow be explained why there may be a need for it.
i am not rich so i don't give tips:D
ahmadjee, I’m a bit of a bleeding heart. sometimes i end up tipping even tho I don’t need to
you’re prolly right abt the reason for this little thai restaurant adding the gratuity charge to the check. it’s just as well, coz the servers work hard, give good service, and they deserve a decent tip.. this policy only hurts ppl who don’t tip. i would just hope the servers get their due.
I don't know what kind of an attitude or service is being provided by a delivery man. You deliver the food and you leave. The entire procedure takes less than 5 minutes.
Also, on a number of occasions I've found the staff at restaurants rude and impolite.
ahmadjee, now that we know who the interested folks are working as a delivery man, I'm sure some of us can keep an eye out for any such openings in our area and refer the interested guppies.
