The sentiments against decoits is mounting these days.
Police is either with them or useless, are also a common beliefs.
If they get caught by people, being real decoits, should they be dealt with by people?

:) I know what you are saying.
'Common' decoits have forced people to live in fear. Travellers, people who have money or jewlary, wedding houses, shops etc. are main targets of these decoits. Brides are told not to wear real jewlary at rukhsati. Banks are also targetted by these people, the moment someone draws cash, these decoits are tipped off by bank staff and decoits are there outside the person's house before the person reaches there.. :(
People are just fed up.
Re: Should decoits be handled by public?
Vigilante justice is not the answer to anything. However, I do support a common effort to remove the government of bandars and kanjars - something we have always had since Pakistan was formed. Ideally all them politicians should be slaughtered and burned alive. They are the ones responsible for justice, and they have been failing the nation for decades. But then, we always elect the same buttholes to these offices of authority and do naaray-baazi at their rallies. So I am not sure who is a bigger ass, the politicians or us as a nation. A banday di puttar government will automatically sort out the departments responsible for implementation of laws, rules and regs, as well as put a transparent and fair system of responsibility and accountability.
But dreaming of having that in Pakistan is like dreaming of having 4 super models in bed, all at the same time.

dont give to the public to handle. coz Sialkot brothers case is infront of you. majority of our public is still JAHIL.
Justice system is weak. its needs true, strong, strict and sincere ppl.

No - No matter what happens , we shouldn't encourage the public to take the law in their hands ..

Re: Should decoits be handled by public?
So far majority in this thread thinks public should be involved at some level.
Confirmed thieves, decoits, murderers either should be punished by the law and more importantly in such a way as to deter others.
When awaam/public starts sensing that justice is not available, they take the matter in their hands at some point.
Lets just be the devil's advocate here for a second look at the matter:
As heinous, barbaric or subhuman crime may be by the people in Sialkot ( even if the victims were innocents to the core), do we think anyone will not have second thought of robbing people and have fear of being caught?
Re: Should decoits be handled by public?
There is an Islamic answer to this question I think (though I'm no scholar).
If someone SAW them committing the crime, I think they can punish.
But I don't know if others can act just by hearing people shouting that the person is a dacoit.
Then the issue of 2 witnesses comes in. So i think (and i am not sure) that if 2 people CONFIRM that they SAW these guys do crime, then someone who did not actually see can also act towards the punishment.
but i don't know how the 2 witness rule applies really...
this crazy mob action just totally seems wrong.
and this brings me back to the point i was making in another thread that our Molvi Brigade in Pakistan *jinn ko left right and center doosRon ko gher Musalman qarar dene se fursat nai hay *should right now be analyzing this issue and providing people some Islamic guidance. But no, they're too busy demonizing america.
