Any remedies or tips on how to help with shortness of breath. It starts off suddenly and lasts for few days and then goes away. Usually worse at nights.
Re: Shortness of breath
U shoud see a doctor asap for it....such signs shouldnt be ignored! hope nothing is serious but still one must always be careful. To me these look like signs of asthama...
Hi there,
Shortness of breatahing could be due to many many causes. There is a long list of these, like:
Chest infection
Asthma
Allergic reaction
Panic attack and anxiety
Heart failure(waking during night because of SOB, frothy pink phlegm, using more number of pillows than before)
etc. etc.
You must not ignore this. Get a proper diagnosis and treatment before situation gets too complicated.
Best of luck !
Re: Shortness of breath
U need a doctor. Please do not wait.
Your symptoms as you described do not sound like panic attack .
Asthma/Allergy /emphysema more likely but heart failure or infection also have similar symptoms.
Asthma has whisteling sound in it and long expiration.
Re: Shortness of breath
drink tons of water meanwhile your waiting to go to the doc
Re: Shortness of breath
Why water for shortness of breath????
Heart failure gets worse with ton of water.
yesterday i was watching this show abt yoga…
one of the caller had a same problem…and they guy showed him a yoga position which really helps
i think u should try that
** index finger is closed in the palm (which it is not in this pic)
** middle two finger and thumb are joined together and small finger opened…
put your hands facing up and lying on ur knews and sit in this position…
Re: Shortness of breath
u shud go to a speacialist ASAP!!!
My friend had a similar problem and went to the doctor. Dr. said there was nothing wrong with her but suggested it might be due to stress, since there was nothing physically wrong with her.
*****Also, she found out later on her own that her BRA was actually the wrong size!!! :halo:
She had been wearing the same BRA size since before she had kids!! It was tight on her! She’s okay since she has changed to the right size and got rid of the The Victoria Secret’s UNDERWIRE bra’s…
Go figure!
Hope it helps…
Re: Shortness of breath
its asthma ... u can take a releiver like ventolin inhaler during the attack .. but if the attacks r frequent u need sum medicines for prevention like montelukast or inhaled corticosteriods ... go visit a chest specialist!
Re: Shortness of breath
i had this for some time back when i had a cat. turns out i was allergic to cat dander. I would try and sleep but wouldnt be able to breathe. it was terrible. and it doesnt happen overnight either...it slowly progresses for the worse until i got to the point of crying because i couldnt sleep. I gave away my cat :"( and moved to a new place. I got rid of old stuff....im fine now but I still have extreme allergies to dust now (i never had this until i got the cat and so i really think the cat dander triggered everything)
Re: Shortness of breath
yeah there r sum triggering factors...cud b cats, dust mites, cockroaches, pollen, birds, pollution, cigarette smoke etc .. carpets shud b removed frm the bedroom plus no pets .. find out what causes or worsens ur asthma nd then try to avoid those triggers ..
Re: Shortness of breath
I have had this for the past few months but its pregnancy induced for me. So far an inhaler has been working out fine even though i dont have asthma.
Re: Shortness of breath
or it could just be anaemia .. that also reduces oxygen leaving u breathless at times.. and if its severe.. can leave u gasping for breath.
Re: Shortness of breath
I don’t have asthma…i had tested few yrs back and it came out bit close to borderline…but I was told I don’t need medicine becuz it is still far from asthma attack stuff. I also have nose tonsills so that could be a factor and mild allergy with dust, cat and perfume. I have developed all this in recent years, never had this before. Usually difficulty in breathing comes in when under stress and having anxiety attacks. Doctor’s answer is just exercise and you will be fine. Yes exercise helps little bit but I am never in the routine.
Maybe I should try out the inhaler.
annymou5](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/members/annymou5.html) I will try yoga also…i heard it helps with the anxiety.
