Salam all,
I have a recipe that needs shortening (No substitutes allowed) can anyone living in the Gulf tell me what I am looking for in the supermarket. I don’t think I have ever seen shortening here…
Any and all help would be really appreciated.

most people use margarine as shortening. or crisco (less healthy). but really its any kind of grease, butter or margarine

Dalda and any kind of banaspati/vanaspati ghee is shortening.
now dalda I have :) ... I wanna try making fondant and the recipe says no substitute allowed for the shortening. Thanks you all
