shortage of workers in canada?

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

well i know some people doing again all degree in this field, but u might get some other job related to ur field

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

One item missing in this disucssion is that majority of the people, if you ask them, will prefer to still stay in Canada so that their kids will have brighter future. So eventhough a PHD, Engineer, Big Shot Desi Manager is driving a cab or delivering pizza, he's betting on the fact that his kids and grandkids will enjoy the fruit of his labor, where they can better speak the language and socially integrate into the society. If you ask an avergae parent, this is a bet they are willing to make - no questions asked!!

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

I moved to Canada from the UK as an internal transfer withing a multinational. Truth is, if you have a good job lined up to move into in Canada, you'll find that Canada:

1) Has very slightly lower taxation than the UK
2) Has MUCH lower living costs than the UK.
3) Canadian property in urban areas is around half the cost of property in the UK. And that's just Toronto I'm talking about. I cannot believe how cheap property anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area is. The rest of Canada is even cheaper!

Today I enjoy a quality of life in Canada that I could not afford in the UK.. and my salary here is the same in absolute terms as I had in England.

The long and short of it is: If you have a good job waiting for you, Canada is good
If you move here without a job... Canada sucks.

Thanks mate,

very helpful!

I agree with all your observations Maddy :k:… and yet I’m interviweing with employers in U.K. and contemplating moving there in a year or two.

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

well like they say

"the grass is always greener on the other side"

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

And yet, for all that, Canada just doesn't have the magic of England. If my career didn't seem more promising in the North American division of the company than the Western European division, I'd seriously consider moving back to London.

Re: shortage of workers in canada?

do your due diligence, people do get jobs, its just that the odds may be more against you in canada.

one of my pals, born n raised in pak, BS in US and MS in US at a very bottom of mid tier type of uni, great skills though is working at a very high position at a major software house in Canada.

I know others who have not fared so well, but as Umar said effort is key, along with talent, luck, network etc
