Suppose I want to know basics of a subject like Economics, Business, Psychology etc. without actually going through a degree, are their any such short courses (say 1 month, 2 month, 3 month etc) offered in any colleges in London?

There are many colleges /universities offering Postgraduate Certificate in Finance and Management or other courses like you can do a 10 weeks short course for financial modelling or even a Diploma in Financial Management - which takes upto 12 weeks ..

plenty, but they ask loads of monies too.

LSE offers summer courses from July to Sept now you have to wait for next year i reckon
