Improving helmet design for safety would be the way to go. You can't take away a fast bowlers weapon.
Recently Rameez Raja called Babar (spelling?) a coward. This was during sarfraz century. Former was on about 40. Babar kept going to leg stump and exposing all 3 stumps while facing Kiwi pacers.
Such attitude in the commentary box needs to be toned down. If the batsman doesn’t have proper technique, he shouldn't be ridiculed for protecting himself however he can.
