Shopping in London- need tips!

Im going to London soon and was wondering if i can get some tips on good desi shopping in London. I have been to Green St. before, this time i want to see South hall (been there too but long time ago) . Any good boutiques for shalwar kameez & saaris?

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

Anyone please??? Im going there in a few days, so all help apreciated. Any good shops recommended in South Hall? Or do I just check out the whole place? Thanks!

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

Daizy I've only ever been to Southall once, so I'm not familiar with what shops to recommend to you, and therefore would suggest you visit most of them.

However, one tip I will give you is haggle - I didn't know this when I went and I did get taken for a ride with some of the stuff. As a guideline, whatever price they suggest, I would suggest that you negotiate around 1/3 of that price.

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

^ they don’t budge. honestly, my mum being the typical asian tries it ALL the time in Green Street :hayaa: and they just won’t budge! one or two might take a quid or so off but nothing major. Plus, most of them have a sign saying they won’t negotiate prices as they are fixed.

daizy, go Green Street and it’s difficult to tell you exactly what shops to go to because it would be easier if you start from the market area and go straight downwards. it’s just much better looking through all the shops. although there’s like this cheap shop near the islamic store (forgotten the name) and they do ready made clothes (quite pretty) so you might wanna check that one out.

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

too late but dont forget to go to Harrods!..lol

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

hi bit late just try every shop on southall broadway there is few good shops but expensive like santoshi, punjab textile, banwait brothers, mongas, omega, rckc and dannak.

I suppose it deoends where you go. For example, she quoted me £250 for a sari last year, and I just randomly went I’ve only got £120 and she agreed!!!

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

Luton..Bury Park aint been there myself but desi friends go on about it.

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

ALWAYS haggle no matter where you go!

Iv just recently been to Green Street and trust me they do budge, you just need to know how to play them.

I would say go into most shops as most of them do have quite a wide variety of clothes.

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

Southall (The Broadway) is great for haggling...because there is just so much competition there. Usually when i'm there, they get the suit out for me, i drop the amount of money i am willing to pay on the table, and walk away with the suit... works everytime. :)

My daddi does that, right after she has taken the monies out of her bra!

Thanx everyone for the tips :)

Re: Shopping in London- need tips!

hey i would say try the maria B outlet in south hall as i saw it passing by after having halal mc donalds lol

Salaams
banwait bros, rainbow textiles and punjabi textiles are my fav. Inside Kabul shopping center there is a little boutique called dhanak, absolutely beautiful clothes and nothing over £3o pounds. Give them a try, i always get complement when i wear their suits. Best of all its all from Pakistan. have fun :)
