Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Yeah I love Jinnah Super, havent been there for more than 15 years though! i used to go to school near it.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

saadia you can go to murree road jeweller sare also good and for shoping murree road and sadar bazar are good too,, moti bazar , even rabi center is also good . and for jewellery you can go to sarafah bazar for more variety in rawalpindi, for good darzi just visit saydpur road close to the commercial market and also commercial market you can darzis shop, big round tailoring market

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Murree Road has some really good clothes shops, do go to POSH.. it has well nice casual/semi-formal wear.

i'd recommend patiala jewelers. they have a shop in both blue are, isb & sarafa bazar, pindi.

there are other recent threads for shopping in pindi/isb. i'd gather info from all of them and make a list of the shops. once you get back, do post how things went.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Yeah I have been to most of the places mentioned above, its just that the last time the tailor destroyed my cloths.

I will try this, havent been to commerical market or near that!! thanks

Last time I also went to patiala jew ... will check it out again.

Did anyone heard that the Gakhar Plaza in Sadar had a fire and then it whet down??? We were away for the weekend, so had no news, is this info right??

This time I will make notes and take pics Insahallah, so you might see some kind of information for shopping from me.

Gina, my friend is going to lahore soon Inshallah and is interested in finding good tailors there. I hope you don't mind sharing information about name and location of good tailors please! Thanks in advance.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

I am also going to Pakistan in 2 weeks.

Please can someone tell me the best place in Islamabad or Jhelum to buy original DVDs (Pakistani, Indian and English movies).

On previous trips the DVDs i have purchased have been very disappointing with poor picture quality.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

That was in Ghakhar Plaza, Sadar, Rawalpindi .. in Sadaf Super Store .. they had almost everything ! Good quality Now I dont know if its gone :-(

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

It's gone, my dad's cousin had the biggest cambridge and levis dealership in pakistan he has a 3 story shop there and he says it's all gone... AShes.... he was too darn depressed.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Oh no that was my favorite hang out place :-(

I can imagine him being depressed ... hope they rebuild the place.

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Yeah hope so, but the horrible thing is that the stuff inside shops wasnt insured. The building was insured by the owner, but all shopkeepers were renting so no insurance, they shouldve thought about being covered. Horrible....

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

Thank you any more places I can shop at ????

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

To list sum more places to shop....i might be repeating sum again...China market, rabi centre for fancy clothes, Ahhhhh thr was a shop Rehman jee next to ghakkar plaza, its expensive than china market n rabi centre but thr stuff was great n different frm thrs...dont know if it exists now or ....
Then u can find sum boutiques in front of ghakkar plaza n near KFC in saddar rwp. but only few hv sum good stuff. i remember a boutique in front of ghakhar plaza little inside.. named ayesha or like tht... it had better stuff than others.
Then of course jinnah super has the best of all things but at higher prices. you can also go to murree road for dresses...lots of options thr.

Paris bazar in pindi is very much cheaper and has the same things like boutiques on murree road.
Jewellry too.

Saadia, hope you had a good time shopping in islamabad/rwp!

can you tell me where in rwp/isb i will find nice party wear/casuals and a good darzi?

Re: Shopping in Islamabad/R-Pindi area

i go back to pakistan regularly and although im not all that fmiliar with the shops (Still) there are a few places where i DO find clothes as i am pretty fussy with what i wear... china markets good for silk and unsown clothes... there was a darzi (normal i sppose) in pindi just past the army base forgot what its called sorry :( my phupo takes us ther regularly an i give him my cotton or lawn clothes to sew! theres another darzi in our village service is ****e but he does a good job i guess but im still not satisfied with his work

As for boutiques in sadar near KFC is a shop called posh... i only went there once but ended up with 4 outfits which complimented me greatly :D and a few other boutiques around that area... i cant actually remeber the names of the other places my cousins take me too :( but if you do a search these guppies share sooo much info that u'll be sure to find sum good places to shop around

As for a salon ive been doing sum research as im due to get married pretty soon and i havent been able to find criticism of a parlour called sobias.. u can look into that apparantly nikhaar is meant to be good

just a note becareful with geting facials done out there coz wen we were getting ours done the lady used the same water to wash the towel off with for me and my cousin and my mum also came out in sum bad spots due to the uncleanliness of the facials just take care wen ur out there

Otherwise enjoy ur holiday and have a safe journey =)
