Shopping in Dubai- any ideas?

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place for this but I really need some help with my bridal shopping here in Dubai.

Me and my fiance are both in Dubai and were going back to UK for our wedding soon.

Everything here seems to be very low quality indian design/synthetic materials. I’ve been to Bur Dubai and Meena Bazaar but come back disappointed. Regal ended up being the biggest disappointed of all.

Its even become a struggle finding the right pure silk chiffon and satin for my bridal dress in an ivory colour. I’m sure my designer will sort that out for me but my dilemma really is sorting out a few outfits that I will wear.

I have no idea where to buy some decent materials and where to get the tailoring.

Any suggestions or ideas would be highly appreciated!

=)

I still consider myself a total newbie to the area, but I've heard theres plenty of fabric stores down in the Sharjah area, central souq?
Theres more than plenty of people selling ready made stuff, and theres seems to be an exhibition of some sort every other weekend, that u could look into...
Good Luck!

Re: Shopping in Dubai- any ideas?

I was in Dubai in December and a bought a few plain kaprai to get kaam done from in Pakistan. And also I bought lots of fancy suit ka kapra from a shop in Dubai - they import their kapra from Lahore & Karachi and have lots of variety in pure kapra (beautiful colours!) and some really nice, fancy designs (with karhai, kundan ka kaam, chunri etc). I got these suits stiched afterwards. They have some ready made clothes upstairs (they have a small elevator to go to that section) - though I didn't buy any that visit. This shop has tailoring as well and they have branches in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi - I'm posting their address below:

First Boutique
Shop #9, Opposite Dubai Museum, near Meena Bazar Car Parking, phone no. 3254839, Bur Dubai.

Good luck!!

heyy...
Recently i went shoping, you can check in Rolla, sharjah..for the area you can say where the old sharjah cinema hall was, there is a shop called pehnawa but on top its riten sum trading...so check it..you should go to old sharjah cinema area and straight from there //zum zum hotel is near by..just walk in that area you will find...they hav 2 stores..old one is small the new one is big and has more collection..so go there...they have fancy suites, ready made and material, they even have bridal wear.
They have material in pure...but a bit pricey...like good suites are about 900+ but you can bargain n bring it till 700...

all the best!!

Sharjah, Rolla area and Meena Bazaar + Jashn store in Bur Dubai. That's where I did my wedding shopping from. It required multiple (100s) visits. Sometimes even lost inner corner shops give you fine options. Good Luck
