shopping in Birmingham

Re: shopping in Birmingham

Btw I don't think the Junaid Jamshaid shop actually stocks many of their own items now? The last time I went in, the lady was like not many people are willing to buy the JJ items because they are so expensive, so they have started selling stuff by other designers. I haven't been recently though, so I don't know what they have these days..

Ashii glad i wasnt the only one who felt like that she was just a nosey apni with alot of
Akarr (attitude) not sure what about exactly!! I was tempted not buy anything from the shop however i liked the gul ahmed pieces
Plus the
Prices down south where Im from
Are way more :-) exactly catalogue and real life big difference x

Re: shopping in Birmingham

Hi I've been to insaf a couple of times, yes it's busy. Stock that I like is never in stock. They tend to focus on regular customers. But they are ok. Go in the week day. There's a shop just before the library that stocks lakhani winter layest, ready made for £75. It's the cheapest one I've seen. Well stitched. Why don't you buy online if you want Gul ahmed. I've been buying for years. But recently their customer service is poor. I've complained to HQ.

Re: shopping in Birmingham

im not from the midlands so this was just a one off visit :)

Re: shopping in Birmingham

I quite fancy making a trip to Birmingham for some clothes shopping.....I'm fed up of all the gaudy sequinned stuff in southall :(

Anyway, for those who purchased Gul Ahmed suits - what do you do about getting them stitched? I quite like the idea of seeing the suits 'in real life' in the store so I can purchase the ones that I really like but then what do I do about the stitching? Surely the whole taking them to pak for stitching negates the point of buying them here and darzi's here cost probably as much as the suit for stitching.

If you go to ladypool road the shop that used to be dulha house before they moved across the road they have all the lakhanis asim jofa sana Safinaz etc stitched! Exactly like in the catalouges and the stuff is genuine as ive got a few which i got from pak and theres no difference in the quality.

Also few doors down from jj is a shop called zeb's they have alot of Zara aahmed designs and what the lady claims nomi ansari n ss design formals but i reckon they r replicas but really nice ones! But be prepared they r pricey! But all the stuff is pakistani style

Re: shopping in Birmingham

bella, any ideas on prices please?

shopping in Birmingham

The fancy stuff in zebs is usually always £300-500

The old dulha house they had the stitched ss silk collection for £110 and the lakhanis for £90 considering the tailors here charge a huge amount to put all the pieces together works out the same buyingloose n stitching here (pak is obv diff)

My sis got some nice long kurtas that r in fashion to wear with footless tights/leggings dor 30-40 quid

There’s a woman who gets these suits made exact same on FB, i have ordered 2 suits from her for my sister and she loved them, she has lakhani, sana safinaz etc. Facebook

Re: shopping in Birmingham

Shazzy, it varies from shop to shop. Definitely worth phoning to check up first. I wouldnt bother with alum rock for wedding outfits. Theres a couple if places in stratford rd too. I dont buy my wedding outfits from the UK but if I had to I would stick with Stratford rd. A friend recently purchased some lovely outfits from a shop called zfs fashions (think thats wot its called) further up the straford rd in hall green , they sell Pakistani kapray. Hope this helps
