shooting the messenger...

A lot of people are arguing that even though TuQ as a person might be subject to suspicious and criticism but what he is demanding is sensible and required (at least when he started this whole ‘revolution’) if Pakistan has to be a sustainable and viable democracy.

The ideas they specially like are:

  1. Electoral reforms, making election commission strong enough to be able to implement election regulations (specially limits on money to be spent in elections).

  2. Scrutiny of the candidates, inspecting their financial matters and tax returns etc. before they can be eligible to be elected.

So, should it be left to election commission to decide who is eligible to contest elections or should it be law enforcing agencies (FIA, NAB, FBR etc) investigating crimes committed by (current and potential) law makers independent of election commission?

Re: shooting the messenger...

I agree some of his proposals are good and should be adopted for free and fair polls. But nothing of that would happen, as the ones ruling the roost will become irrelevant in that eventuality.
