Re: shooting sports

i wanted to get a handgun and go to my local shootign range, but dang it the moment i buy a gun i would be on like 13 diff lists so just like the hopes of getting a private pilot license.

i loved target shooting with a crossbow in college, one of my hunting buddies had em for squirrel hunting. wonder if there are places for crossbow shooting

As far as crossbows are concerned, its my understanding, many states do not permit game hunting with them. I think Georgia and Ohio are the exception. Others such as Penn are considering crossbow seasons. Do you know of others?

As long as one doesn't have a criminal record and not belong to Al Qaeda or affiliate with those who do, one shouldnt get paranoid about lists. Even Ted Kennedy's name ended up on a list. I have travelled to other countries and to different states by air after 9/11 with my firearms and havent had any problems. Also, I have a friend who took flying lessons and got his ppl after 9/11.

hey man, they work out as good excuses to justify my laziness.

as far as crossbows, this is the info I have, not sure how dated it is.

Hey, X2 thanks for the info. Btw, crossbow hunting is not necessarily laziness, in my opinion. Anyone that has the patience and is willing to do the work to draw in game within 50 yds, before harvesting it, has my respect. I will grant you, it probably takes greater skill to take such game with a regular bow. Have you hunted with your crossbow?

Personally, I am more drawn to the challenge of shooting birds moving thru the air rather than stationary big game with a rifle. However, I would not call rifle shooters lazy.

Re: shooting sports

no man, i meant making excuses for not getting to a shootign range is due ti my laziness.

I have doen cross bow hunting a handful of times but ages ago, had a buddy who was into hunting, but once we moved to different places, hunting kinda went with it

It was the same kind of nostalgia, that got me to the range one day. Eventually, I made new friends. Last year, I went to Argentina with seven of them on a four day hunting trip. It was more fun than anything I had done in my life.
