Shoe Dilemma!

Hi guys,
Need a bit of advice regarding a pair of custom made heels that I’m getting. So I’ve decided to go all out for my sister in law’s wedding. I’m wearing a plain purple silk saree with a meena katan/benarasi border in hot pink and gold and bits of purple. My blouse material will be constrasting - hot pink meena benarasi/jamevar with purple and gold weave. I’m also getting a contrasting clutch and shoes to go with it and since it’s custom made, I can get them to complement the saree perfectly. Now my dilemma is how matching should it be? I have 3 options for the shoes. Pls help me choose:

  1. I could get a pair of plain hot pink heels (would be the most practical)
  2. Shoes made with hot pink and gold jamevar fabric (would limit it to gold toned stuff)
  3. Shoes made with the exact same material as my blouse -hot pink meena benarasi with purple and gold weave (would limilt usage more but would be oh-so-pretty!)

Which option should I pick, given that I tend to wear pinks and purples a lot and that the shoes won’t really cost that much!

I’ve added an attachment of what the blouse piece resembles.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

If you've decided to go all out, as you have yourself stated, then number 3 would be awesome.

If you're still confused, however, roll a dice, and as you wait for it to stop, you'll realise which number you'll hope it'll land on and there's your answer!

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

With those 3 options I vote for #1. I am not a fan of too matchy-matchy outfits.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

I'd suggest go for #1. I don't think heels in jamawar/banarsi etc stuff would look good, khussas or traditional type of shoes yeah they would look good...but jamawar heels, I just can't picture them to look good

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

^ Ditto. I just can't imagine it either, and it may look a bit messy since there is quite a bit going on with your outfit because of the material of your sari.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

Ok here’s an idea…get your clutch made in the same material as your blouse with plain hot pink trimmings/accessories. And get hot pink plain shoes with either:

  1. wide stripes of the jamawar (same material as your blouse). Something like this, yours will be pink stripes in the place of green and fabric stripes in place of black

  2. Get hot pink plain shoes with just the heels covered in the fabric of your blouse (like studded heels) somewhat like these:

  3. You can do em cap-toe style, hot pink shoes with jamawar on the toe area:

  4. If I was you, I’d get this one done:

the white portions to be fabric of your blouse (our you could make it hot pink and gold jamawar to make it a bit more practical) and the black portions to be plain hot pink. I think this one is HOT! This would look great even without the toe-peep, whichever you prefer.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

thanks for your responses!

For clarification purposes - I guess I did not specify that I’m thinking of making strappy heeled sandals. I also don’t think pumps/ closed toed shoes/ peeptoes would look good with the jamevar fabric.
I want something like this - http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server4300/e2860/products/2266/images/2725/4_Inch_High_Heel_Strappy_Sandals_Taupe_Synthetic_849__22128.1323587537.1280.1280.jpg

And my saree is absolutely plain other than the banarasi border which is about 1.5" thick. There is no kaam in the body or pallu. My blouse will also be short sleeved (sleeve length will be 3.5"). So basically, there won’t be a lot of the jamevar fabric to show.

Given these specifications, do you think matching clutches and sandals would be a bad idea? Should I just stick with a gold clutch and gold sandals?

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

Same here.. I think they don't look that elegant..

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

I think you should go with gold clutch and gold sandals.. You can never go wrong with it and I’m sure you’ll look amazing  add some bling bling jewellery and you are good to go

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

yeah go for gold clutch and shoes...in a sari the shoes are mostly hidden anyways, and get custom made shoes with some other outfit. Or if you really really want them then get plain hot pink sandals (the kind of pic which you posted) with jamawar strapped heels and a jamawar clutch with a plain hot pink bow/flower/accessory.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

I'm not keen at all on matchy matchy outfits and accessories.

A gold clutch and gold strappy sandals is what I would go for. Closed shoes, peep toes you can save for another day.

Also what kind of jewellery are you planning on wearing?

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

I think I'll wear a ruby and diamond polki pendant set and earrings. And either a kundan kada or some glass bangles for my arms. Not sure about hat yet.

Re: Shoe Dilemma!

Not sure about THAT yet. I am not planning to wear any hats LOL! :D

Would be looking forward to see your pictures :)
