and what kind of projects await the likes of Anwar Maqsood, Moin Akhtar, Bushra Ansari, etc in India that will properly utilize their talents? is Moin Akhtar supposed to stoop to the Johnny Lever level comedy now? Anwar Maqsood, imo, is now washed up. but when he was at his peak (Studio Dhai, etc), do you seriously think his sense of humor would have been a hit in India? I can see the vintage Umar Sharif hitting it big in India but not the Anwar Maqsood from 80s and 90s. same goes for Bushra Ansari.
just because their films make a boatload of money doesn't mean they make good films. more money != good films. movies like Transformers etc make a lot of money but they're not good films. films like Frailty, A Simple Plan, Black Balloon, etc might not be massive commercial hits but they're good films. there's a difference between a commercial hit and a good film.
why do Pak actors/actresses want to go there? obviously because they want to make money and do well for themselves as individuals. which is fantastic. more power to them -whoever they are. if you're going to work for more fame/money, then it doesn't matter if it's Meera, Juggan, Umaima (who is she) or Mona Lisa.
but how does it help Pakistan's film if quality artists like Bushra Ansari, Sonya Rehman, etc go to India?
