Shoaib Malik being captain can be the worst thing that can happen to Pakistani Cricket after this a horrible tour.
Kamran Akmal not being in test squad will actually be a good thing for pakistan in long term.

I AM ALL UP FOR MALIK... the best thng that can happen to PAKISTAN at this moment.. NO one else deserve it better then him in this team.. either him or MISBAH...

Its been on ARY and now GEO as well. They are both reporting that Malik has been made captain for the T20's in England, while Akmal is dropped and Yawar Saeed is back as manager and Inti has been replaced by Ijaz Ahmed as head coach.
If true, I think its very good news, especially the long due dropping of Akmal. I think once Afridi's ban is over he will be made captain at least of the T20 side.
Malik captain? No way. Worst news for Pakistan. Dude can't find a place in the squad full time and he is made captain? If this is true then the games he played have worked out.
I don't know how captain can be announced when rumors are that Ijaz Butt and his cronies will be fired soon.

I dont understand how people say Malik is playing games? The dude isnt even a permanent fixture in test matches and ODI's.
Even if Malik is playing games, he is not alone and he definetly isnt the leader of any group. Its pretty obvious by now that the team didnt want Yousuf as captain...and I think we will see far better results with the Afridi/Malik combo.
When Afridi was captaining, it was clear he was giving a lot of importence to Malik and used him wisely as a bowler..and Yousuf rarely ever used Malik as a bowler. To top it off, Malik performed well under Afridi. When Afridi got banned and Malik was made captain of the lone T20 game against the Aussies, Malik came out and told the media that he accepted captaincy on Afridi's desire. Plus we all know the history between Yousuf and Malik and how Yousuf kept running his mouth against Malik when Yousuf himself betrayed his country just to make some quick moolah by playing ICL. Even then, Malik, Afridi, Akhtar had bigger and better offers than Yousuf but declined the offers because they knew wouldnt be able to play for Pakistan for an indefinite period of time.
So what does this tell you? The likes of Malik, Afridi, Younus, Gul and maybe some more players clearly do not want to play under Yousuf and its pretty simple why. Yousuf is probably the most pathetic captain the world, heck he shouldnt even be captaining a club level team. Whereas players like Gul, Afridi, Younus and even Malik always give their 110% when playing for Pakistan. Pakistan's fielding was a lot better under Malik and Younus but suddenly hit an all time low when Yousuf was captain. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to see whats going on but people just get up and pinpoint one player for all the problems. That too a player who doesnt even know if he will be playing the next ODI or test match.

Malik has been named captain for just 2 20/20 in USA against England and Kamran has been dropped for the team. While Shoaib Malik's move might be ok, Its hard to find any reason to drop Kamran Akmal from 20/20 team. He should be dropped from TEST team and not 20/20.

Things were different at that time. Yousuf wasnt getting along with Malik at all, things between Malik and Afridi werent great and Younus still wanted a shot at captaincy.
Plus when Malik was made captain we had just gone through the Inzi era where we saw what happens when the captain has too much authority. So the PCB over corrected and gave the selection committee a lot of power, and it was the selection committe that used to decide the playing eleven for home matches. So some Malik supporters can argue that he infact never even had full control over the team or selection.
Im not saying Malik is gonna be the next Imran Khan or a legendry captain…but honestly right now I would rather have Malik or Afridi as captain over the likes of Yousuf any day. Its really because of the lack of choices we have when it comes to captaincy that Malik being made captain would actually be good news for Pakistan cricket.

No prob with Shoaib Malik as a captain. The only problem in my view is this that his own performance is not good whereas captain's performance should be good enough. As Shahid Afridi performance is very good now a days he deserves captaincy
