Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

Inzi has proved himself to be the laziest and dumbest captain in the history of Pakistan cricket. If it was not for the seniority, he might have never been made a vice captain to begin with. He has no cricket tactics under his hat.

From the current lot, I think Shoaib Malik can make a good captain. He has the fighting spirit and is one of the most active player in the field. With his variable scoring ability he has proved himself to be a smart cricketer who knows when and how to react. He reacts with the circumtances and thats flexiblity and varsatility is required to be a good captain.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

I agree about Inzi's dumbest captaincy. He didn't change bowlers when he was not getting a break thru, persisted with Afridi for too long.... Razzaq I think bowled his 10 overs almost continuously.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

Atleast for the first 2.5 overs, if you are lucky.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

In his dreams

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

Afridi for ODI Captian and Kaneria for Test Captain.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

SM would make a good choice ( a great one actually)..but i do think that the show man should be given a final chance to prove his worth by being made capt..he normally has a lot to say , so throw him at the deep end & lets see how he delivers.( might bring in a sense of responsibility)..If that fails miserably, the contingency plan would be to make Younis the capt. & Afridi or malik his deputy..i would hire imran khan on a part time basis ( as he has enough on his plate) to act as a mentor for the capt.
By the way, it wouldnt be a bad idea to get akram as the nxt full time coach..that would definitly make a dream team.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

afridi or malik for captain :k:

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

don't be ridiculous

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

First off - Inzimam is a great player and not only Pakis recognize this fact, but the world does :k: … however, he lacks the aggressive agility that is so often required in overseeing that the team gets home – hence a change is not only required but imperative if Pak is to compete with dignity on the world stage.

That being said, we Pakistanis by nature are very emphatic about associating the chain of command with professional seniority and take it as a sign of disrespect if you’re “seniority is superceded” and for some reason, I get the feeling that this has been the case with our cricket team as well. Its high time we divest ourselves of this mindset that is holding us back leave and institutionalize a team captain who’s warranted not only on the basis of his cricketing abilities but also his leadership skills.

In the humble thoughts of an armchair cricketer, I see some potential in both Malik as well as Afridi… whoever we chose this time, we need to make sure that the person has some insight in the dynamics of both batting and bowling. Malik seems to fit the bill for a captain. Also, lately, Afridi has impressed me a lot – I’ve seen him talking actively to players, advising players and extolling them on their good performances. I can’t believe I’m saying this (just three months ago, I opposed the guy’s inclusion in the team hehe), but he may be a good choice for at least an ODI vice captain position.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

he is the best player, but not a motivator. He cannot come up with simple rule of game. Dumb ass plays so well that it hurts when call him dumb. He won the toss, had his bowler bowl good in beginning. Dumb didnt take advantage. Didnt put pressure. No slips, so close fielders.... He is to blame for Friday's Loss.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

I agree, same with me. I was the biggest opposer of Afridi few months back. But the guy has come back as he is born-again. He is showing brains in bowling and batting as well. Pakistan finally has found his right place in the team, as a spinner and No. 7 batsmen. The poor guy was wrongly put into a place where he didn’t deserve, and that fame took him to the skies that he never listened to greats like Miandad, Akram and Waqar. Now after being dropped for so long, he has found himself and working hard to retain his place in the team.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

Afridi usually does well in Australia. He is the second most senior player, so he can be a captain. What worst could happen? I guess the present situation.

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

I wonder why even this thread was open!!! SM for captaincy how dumb is that, did you ppl forget he was brought as a all-rounder and now reduced to as a batsman but he is not even doing a good job @ that.

dont jump on the gun if you think SM is good for captaincy then I believe you can go with Taufeeq Umer rightaway or heck! why not Salman butt!!!

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

take a chill pill kaakay!

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

I am chill pill yaara, and how can't I be if I am in -25 zone :D

its just that I am burn't from the last loss and saw this so it was just like "jalay huway per taa-e-l chirak diya"

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

Afridi is indeed showing some sensibility in his batting in this series, but that attacking instinct has to stay, and I'm glad it's still there. And by the way, Shoaib Akhtar will soon be skipper, so cheers :) !

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

bhai, he has scored more than vice captain Youhanna, Abdul Razzaq, Salman Butt so far. Only Inzi, Kamran and Shahid are ahead of him. Don’t worry about his bowling, he will soon get it corrected and hence become all rounder. But I fear Shoaib will take over reigns of the team though it will be a short stint

Re: Shoaib Malik for Captaincy

As long as Inzi is playing we dont need to change him.

Maik can be a good option

Someone had eyes to spot the talent few years back :)
