Good to see that big names don’t guarantee you a spot in the team any more. This just might spur on Sami and Shoaib to bowl well in the ongoing test as well.
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the national selectors have put three promising pacers on hold for the third Test against India after a continued streak of disappointing performances from Shoaib Akhtar and Muhammad Sami.
Sources in the Board confirmed that Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan who played in the first One-day International against India at Karachi, Rao Iftikhar and Fazle Akber have been told to be ready for a call to the Pakistan team. The uncapped Iftikhar was a member of the Pakistan squad for the first two one-dayers but was than dropped by the selectors.
**Akber who has played in the past for Pakistan in tests and one-day internationals has been in prolific form this season with the ball taking over 50 wickets already.
His continued ignorance by the national selectors despite his good performances at the domestic level has surprised many critics and former players./]b
The PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan also named the three as good back-up for the future while expressing his disappointment with the performances of Shoaib and Sami so far in the series against India.
Meanwhile Pakistan manager Haroon Rasheed has said that Moin Khan, Shabbir Ahmed and Abdul Razzaq were recovering from injuries and would be considered for the third test in Rawalpindi
I m all for this having people ready for immidiate back up like Australians
If Sami or Akthar don't work 2-3-4 game, someone else should be ready to step in a perform rightaway !
Shoaib showed today why despite the criticism he comes in for, dropping him is not an option. The working over he gave Irfan Pathan was fast bowling at it's best. I wish he would target the batsmen's bodies more often. He terrorised the South Africans when he started pitching it at their throats.
Sami did ok too. Let's hope they keep it going for the decider.

Yes, like i said if we drop him, we lose our edge. Yes the edge may have been rusty thus far in the series but today his spell was an inspired one.
Equally, Sami getting rid of Sachin and Yuvraj were the key factors, he had sehwag dropped by youhana off him. That didnt helo him either but still he imprvoed a lot in second innings.

The Game Responds:
*Rightly said. We all remember how he ran through the South Africans in the 2nd innings at the Lahore test last year. It was all, quality, short pitched stuff(I still cannot figure out how Sehwag got a 300 when he could have easily been bounced and made uncomfortbale). People, That Is All.*
I think The News is cooking stories up. Their credibility is fast loosing. i am not saying this because we’ve won. Such wholesale changes don’t make sense mid-way through the series.
Nice observation. :k:
Did you notice that you are going backwards.
I mean in alphabetical order W’s are ahead of Ss and Ss in turn ahead of Rs.
2Ws = 3Ss=4Rs:smokin2:
lol, its a different maths here. A is still not in the picture. And Ws have higher values then Ss.
But yeah i definetly want As over Ws but who’s gonna tell this to my prof or PCB in this case.
