Seeing the current Pakistani performances, both in the Test series and One-dayers, I wonder what role is left for Shoaib Akhtar to play in the team?
At the moment, a squad of eager young (!) players led by a couple of senior stars has gelled together well, and are working as a unit. Although there is room for improvement, I think they are certainly on the right track.
I wonder whether the re-introduction will do the team more harm than good. Yes, Akhtar is a wicket-taking bowler, but his attitude on and off the pitch will only break up the fantastic team spirit present at the moment.
At the moment the selectors should make a brave decision and let him out for the coming couple of series :k:

What a redicules timing and trivial obervation based on current matches.
If ‘something to happen tomorrow, opposite of what happened to today’ within lies my answer. Ahhh forget it!!!
very true...team spirit is very crucial along with the talent and we posses both at this time....i am sure this is what inzi had been trying to say to the selectors about shoaib's selection.......
we always had the KHALEEFAs in our team but the likes of Wasim & Waqar and all the others played their parts well so justify their selection....they were match winners.....where as shoaib do posses the talent but he lacks commitment and is a bad influence for youngsters.....for once selectors should think about this and quit with giving preference to these people for having experience instead of giving chances to the youngsters who posses great pasion.......do what Australia does either keep rotating the team or make only those play who perform.
Why do we always do like that? Whenever we are doing well we tend the forget everything, all the negatives associated with the team or the management or selectors. Mashallah we are doing very well right now but don't forget that what big part our batting has played in the current performance, which hasn't been Pakistan strength tradionally. We also need a strong bowling department. You might have to think that we got away due to the good batting conditions on the current tour. Yes I admit that Rana has been awesone, sami has also performed well but in patches, spinners played a good part in test series. But we have to have a match winner strike bowler like shoiab in the team. OK I admit that by keeping him out the tour, selectors have given him a good lesson, but if they decide to keep him out of the future tours as well, what will they try to prove??? That we are so pathetic when it comes to management that we cant control a person when he is in the side, so although he is a match winner but we are keeping him out of the side. Do you think that shoaib is the only spoiled brat in the cricketing world, not there would be many, but there are ways to control them which doesn't include keeping them out of the team for the rest of their career. We have an example of Australia, where Shane Warne has been involved in controversies and scandals, but ACB never kept him out of the side, becasue they know that he is a match winner. Shoiab is not a super fit player, he is 30 years old, he doesn't have much cricket left in him, so I hope that PCB will try to cash him as much as possible in the future tours to come.
The longer he stays out of the side the better. I say a good 2/3 months out should make him more eager to perform with 100% commitment on a consistent basis.
Until he appreciates his team members, shows a bit of respect to not only the captain, but the fans, he should be kept out.
Shoaib has lot to prove in up coming Test and One day series. I am a huge fan of Naved & the way he is playing. He and Sami along with Shabbir can do it for sure. Shoaib is either unfit or unfit. Also he is 28, if we are looking for 2007 go with Rana, Sami and Shabbir pace with dicipline.
Shoaib Akhtar will make a perfect fit into the Pakistani test team.
Salman Butt
Yasir Hameed
Younis Khan
Inzimam ul Haq
Yousuf Youhana
Asim Kamal
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Rana Naved Ul Hasan
Muhammad Sami
Shoaib Akhtar
This is for me the best possible Pakistan team in any conditions, though I wouldn't mind having Afridi in the expense of one of the openers if conditions suits his bowling.
In ODIs
Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Shoaib Malik
Yousuf Youhana
Inzimam ul Haq
Younis Khan
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Rana Naved Ul Hasan
Muhammad Sami
Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib could have been the next captain. Freakin' politics by Inzi Maulana ruined that dream of mine. He will come back ofcourse, and will lead our attack.
shoiab must comeback...the only difference is that if he repeats his khaleefa giri, actor harketen, and unfitness...then he will be kicked out very soon...I think he understands this, and will hopefully perform when he comes back
Shoiab Akhtar can forget coming back into the team unless he performs really well in domestic cricket. With Rana cementing his place in the team...Shabbir also being fit and Iftekhar bowling really well in the last 2 matches against India...I find it really hard for Akhtar to come back into a well settled team.
