**Was this the moment Pakistan’s cricketers became embroiled in one final controversy? ** Shoaib Akhtar shines the ball then stands on it
In the last game of their acrimonious tour of England at the Rose Bowl last night fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be seen apparently running his left thumb along the ball’s seam before dropping the ball on the ground and standing on it with his spiked right boot.
Sportsmail’s pictures were taken in the 41st over of England’s innings as Shoaib prepared to bowl to Paul Collingwood.
It is not the first time Shoaib, 35, has come under the spotlight at the Rose Bowl.
Four years ago, he was filmed by Sky cameras flicking at the ball with his thumb during a one-day international here against England.
On that occasion Shoaib was cleared but was warned about his behaviour after being accused of tampering with the ball during a Test match in Zimbabwe in late 2002.
The following year he was banned for two ODIs and fined 75 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of the same crime against New Zealand in Sri Lanka.
Re: Shoaib Akhtar is caught on camera as ball tampering row sours England's Rose Bowl
evidence is not strong enough to say Shoaib was tampering with the ball. cannot deduce anything from it i.e. from mere positioning of his fingers on the ball. This is nothing but someone's imagination working overtime. Furthermore the umpires or match referee have not said anything yet.
As an aside daily mail is well-known for biased reporting. They were the ones who made the most noises during the ball-tampering controversy in the early 90s

It is really interesting to see and notice the zooming of the first picture, not even the thumb but the hand position is different from the picture which has been zoomed ...

agreed a video footage is needed to prove it properly

Sorry guys………..but while watching the 4th ODI live, I notice that Akhtar is scratched the ball before handed over to Gul (Gul was balling at that time) I say Yaa Allah Khair …another drama in making but to my surprise no one say anything tell these pictures released.

Well, as long as ICC doesnt take notice and start enquiry, I wont care about the whining of these english papers.
And on the side-note, I would repeat that our board should be very smart and pro-active for the upcoming allegations. If something stupid comes in any paper, go for a lawsuit. I'm 100% sure, only 1 or 2 lawsuit decisions will quite these biased papers for good.
And on the same note, Pakistani players should realize that they are under heavy microscopic scrutiny. So they gotto be very careful in every single action.

Rubbish...it doesn't make sense...first the bowlers/fielders removing dirt from the ball...and then scratching it...and then again try to shine it first with their saliva and then further rub it on their trousers to get the shine...hmmmmm...wow...and lol... :D
PS: You damage the ball and then rub it on your trousers to get the shine back...boom chikka boom...boom chikka boom...lol

I agree with Ehsan bhai, why should we give a sh|t about this british gutter press? Instead of reproducing their stories, we and our media would be wise enough to publish some of English player pictures such as that of Bresnan.
Good effort by Amarbail btw to highlight the case about Bresnan. :k:
