Shoaib Akhtar - Fined and suspended for one ODI

for one game only

**Shoaib gets one match ban for gestures, bottle throwing
Reuters - 1 December 2002

HARARE (Reuters) - Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been banned for one match and fined half his match fee after being found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute during the one day international against Zimbabwe.

Match referee Clive Lloyd summoned Shoaib to a hearing after two separate incidents during the match, won by Pakistan by 70 runs, in which he gestured at the crowd and threw a plastic water bottle into the stands.

The bottle did not hit any spectators, but struck a wall.

“That is bringing the game into disrepute, and he was on a severe reprimand before for scratching the ball,” Lloyd told Reuters on Sunday. “He will lose his match fee, and he has been banned for one one day international.”

Shoaib had been reprimanded earlier by Lloyd for ball tampering after the first test in Harare last month.

Pakistan team manager KM Nasir declined to comment on the suspension.

Pakistan’s victory on Sunday gave them a 5-0 whitewash of the series. Their next one-day international is against South Africa in Durban on December 8.

There is a saying in punjabi suits very well to Shoaib

"anay hath batair a gia"

Pareshan kar diya tha tumhari Topic Heading ne...

Newaz....hota hai, chalta hai, duniya hai...

Your topic heading rally scared me, but when I read that it was just for one game, I relaxed again. Well I think the spectators should be more diciplined because sometimes they say things which its hard to control your temper on.

wel yeah i still remember abot inzi's incident. Otherwise Inzi is the most calm man in the cricket arena, never curses never use lanuggae but some comments are soo offsensive !

So what excuse you guys have for Shoaib about the ball tempering insident? :)

well u guys cant deny the fact the way he did it looked kool, man that was something. well even the result of the incident was negative it looked kool to watch lol

Athough Shaoib is a good fast bowler, actually one of the fastest but I dont like him. Reason is his arrogance. He is too immature and low tempered. He has boasted several times about how good he is and how he won the matches for Pakistan. At such an early part of his career I have never seen so much bragging from any cricketer. It is too much bragging from someone who has yet to prove a lot.

u can only brag when ur sure what ur stating are facts, and what he does is state facts, he has won matches for pakistan, and will so in the future 2. he has a right to brag all he wants right now!!!!!!!!!

There have been several cricketers definitely greater than than Shoaib is, e.g. All time greats like ;Imran, Sachin, Lara to name a few but I dont remember any great cricketer from past or present bragging about their performance as much. He has forgotten that Cricket is team game.

Here is what he said before Australia humiliated Paksitan in Sharjah this year:

"I'm at my best. I am running fast, and the rhythm and flow is there," Shoaib said after a gruelling net session. "I feel very strong in the legs. I'm always keen to do well against Australia. They are the best batting side in the world, and *it gives me a lot of motivation to destroy this line-up." *

And reverse swing at his pace, he added, is absolutely lethal. "Other people have tried to reverse swing the ball, but it is the pace in our armoury that makes it unplayable."

It was evident from his demeanour and his words that he intended to inflict more misery on the Australian batsmen. "

Shoaib believes he can get to 350 to 400 Test wickets.** "But my job is to win matches for Pakistan.** That is what I want to do.

"The Aussies are beatable. We beat them in June, and that showed the way for Sri Lanka to beat them in the Champions Trophy. We came very close to beating them in the first Test at Colombo. There they were looking at 600 (in the first innings) and** I had to manoeuvre to turn things around. **

"I was successful in the post-lunch session. I did it again on the fourth day with five wickets in 15 balls.
"Anyway, it is my job to lead the way, to be the inspiration, to lift the team. And I'm doing just that."

analyze it: Ditto

robby: u sounds like an indian ;) r u? :)

Analyze it, though I'm not a big fan of Shoaib's personality and arrogance but he was damn right at what he said.
Yes you are right, all great players never brag about their greatness but the statements you provided above does not show his arrogance.
he is talking about his good form and how well he is playing recently.
And wasn't he right about destroying the world's best batting lineup.
He took the whole team out for 137 with help from Saqlain, there were 2 other occaisions in the recent concluded series where bowled very well just like he mentioned above.

I don't know Jaan Lewa but as far as I remember that never happend.
I remember him giving a long stare to the umpire and Ricky Ponting but he never punched anyone, or if he did, he would not have been international cricket for a long long time.
