Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

In my childhood we used to spent our summer holidays with grand parents in Punjab. There was a custom there to smoke hookah, which we never saw in Karachi. It was a strange yet interesting observation for us to see how people were enjoying it. Later on I came to know that it contains tobacco and it is a serious risk for health.
Recently I saw a glamorized version of this traditional hookah which I was familiar with, called Shisha or water pipe. My neighbors have a strawberry flavored shisha which their son use in BBQ parties. When I heard of it I asked my husband if it is just flavored smoke can I have it? He replied that may be next time you can try it. When I researched about this new trend amongst youngsters I came across shocking news that most of the people including my husband don’t know that it is a serious risk for health. People consider it just flavored smoke but it is not as simple. Dr Javaid Khan, Professor and consultant Chest Physician of Agha Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan had a reaearch report about it.

your views on it,

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I’ve never tried sheesha and I don’t know anyone who has… but online I know a few people who think sheesha is the bomb :cobra:

I hope people are aware of the health risks associated with it…

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I have smoked shisha like 4 5 times in my life …just for 2 3 min no more than that :nahi:

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I have heard the term 'shisha' before, but did not know what it means.
In my memory it is associated with drugs. So I guess I already had an idea that it is something bad.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

whats so SUPER thing abt it?i mean is the taste good???

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

i smoke shisha....once in a while....it makes u a lil light headed! i guess its just a social activity.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

Oh I am a regular sheesha smoker. Have been since college. It was the thing to do back in the day and even now. Hell I met up with a friend from darfur and to remember good old times we had a sheesha each.

Its an arab tradition from Morocco to Oman. Everybody does it. Its a fun social thing.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

Its nothing special....its tobacco in diff flavours....like apple, vanilla, guava

i like apple

BTW i know its harmful thats why i used once per 5 6 months

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I think its more of a social thing. I mean when work mates gather at the bar for a couple of pints.. we can gather for a couple of rounds of shisha. lol

btw, the craze is everywhere in the world not just Pakistan. Last I heard it was kinda dying out in Pakistan. Maybe its picked up again?

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

You know its just a symptom.
Real problem is 99% percent of educated young ppl are only place holders.
They dont have real personalities.

So its natural for them.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I've also tasted it a few times but never liked it. I even have one sheesha at home but never use it.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

Shisha ho ya dil ho, toot jata hai :(

PS: I have one sitting at home as "Decoration" but never tried it ...

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

In Dubai going to sheesha places to hang out is a fairly common social activity. Have done it myself loads of times and there is nothing wrong with it. Haven't come across shisha or this so called trend in Lahore so far.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

Ive been to a few in Lahore and Faisalabad. There seems to be a trend there - only amoungst the uni/college students tho.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I love your id dude

Mclovin :omg:

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

Lungs are designed for air, guys. If you want to fill them with smoke, join the fire dept!

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

I love Shisha high five

My grand-dad did smoked a Hookah and I grew up in Dubai, where Shisha/Hookah is hella normal so for me, it wasn't really taboo or whatever. Its a nice way to socialize and all that, I don't really care if it cuts off a few years off my life.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

egjActLy! ..

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

it's no big deal just a fun thing.

Re: Shisha Trend in Pakistan.

There is nothing good in it.. Hooka is better than this sheesha, but both of them are harmful. Talking about socializing is just a lame excuses. Socializing yourself means to do good thing for your society and not being the best from the worst.

I was really a bad chain smoker (Left 3 week ago and Alhamdulilah havent smoked till now). I have smoked hooka, sheesha, Joint, and many other things. All of them are harmful.
