I’m having a little difficulty deciding between Shirley Wu Beauty Concepts (specifially Maggie Wu) and Amplified Soul Hair and Makeup. If you’ve experienced any of their work, I would really appreciate your insight.

i've seen shobhana from amplified soul in action with bridal hair and makeup and she's AMAZING. plus, she's a total sweetheart to work with.
having said that, shirley is also lovely so its a tough call.
i guess i'd say shirley does more of a traditional look, but shobhana can do traditional and contemporary very well.
have you checked out both their websites and facebook pages? maybe go for a trial with each to see whom you prefer.

I actually have checked out the respective pages/websites, from what i gather both artists appear to do a great job. I just wanted to gauge how the experience has been for brides, for example are they attentive, understanding, and respectful of your wishes? Unfortunately, Shirley isn't available the day of my reception, however Maggie is. If anyone has had any experience working with her specifically I would love to hear how it went.
I've contacted Shobana, waiting to hear back. Does anyone know what the bridal rate is for Amplified Soul? Unfortunately, neither artist provide this info on the website.
Inshallah, i'm planning on getting married this August, I just happened to contact Shirley Wu Beauty Concepts today and I couldn't believe that they are booked solid. Well I guess i shouldn't have been surprised, it never occured to me that a Sunday date 8 months from now would be booked solid! Glad I contacted them..!

summer is a very busy season for wedding vendors in general, and people usually book a year in advance if they're getting married from may to september which is high season. sorry that shirley isn't available for you, but as i said, i know shobhana is attentive and understanding towards her brides. you should definitely meet with her - she's really lovely!
shirley charges $500 for bridal makeup and hair. i would imagine shobhana and maggie would have competitive rates.

i got my hair done (cut and colour) by maggie and she is a sweatheart! very friendly and attentive to what you want.
I got my make up done by Shirley. She is amazing. Maggie moved to Toronto from Pakistan early last year, so she has a real Pakistani touch to her make up (like the salons in Pakistan). Both sisters are really nice. They charge $500 for hair, make up, dupatta setting, and jewelry setting.

Amplified Soul charges 500 for one day or 450 if you're going with 2 days.
I really loved her work and I was about to go with her, but the price is a bit steep, and I noticed most of the pictures of her work was mainly of models. And although they looked fantastic, I found that pictures of her actual brides' makeup wasn't something extraordinary, and if I'm dropping that amount of cash I want my makeup to look amazing.
She charges 120 for a hair/makeup trial and 85 for just a hair or makeup trial, you can maybe get a trial from each of them and then decide?
