Shirk Amongst the Ummah

Without getting into an argument about whether its allowed or not. Ive read both sides of the arguments.

One thing Ive never quite understood about intercession through the dead (we all know its allowed to ask the living, I doubt there is any disagreement about that, anyone can ask anyone to make dua for them), is that if you are gonna ask through someone dead why not ask through the Prophet :saw: ?, why ask through a dead saint ?, that at the end of the day you dont even know if they will get into heaven let alone be of any benefit to you.

prophet yousef (as)'s brothers asked their alive father to intercede for them, if asking with dead was allowed, they could have asked through ibrahim (as) who was the Khaleel allah.
and sokon, intelligence takes a passenger seat with regards to islam, logic is not above evidence from quran and sunnah and thus your logic about doctor and your boss is worthless in islamic terms, you can think they are enough to proof your point but tell that to an islamic jurist and hear his response to your supposed "proofs".

M, interesting reply. Firstly if you atleast agree that the concept of wasila from the alive does not constitute shirk, going from alive to the 'dead' might be wrong in your opinion, but how does it become shirk?

the only way it is shirk is that if you believe that intercession impugns on Allah's sole authority over the world to grant hajaat. Clearly it isnt, and it even seems recommended if you peruse through my links/quotes. The disagreement eventually does boil down to whether or not intercession is allowed period.

as for asking only through those who are alive, most dua's atleast from a shia perspective involve wasila as in Allah ba wasila e ___ ye ye ho jaye. and thus the same Allah that accepts dua's through the wasila of someone who is alive, would the worth of that person in the eyes of Allah diminish if that person wasnt physically present in the world?

Unless you can show me in the ayaat quoted that justify tawassul the necessity of the wasila being alive..

as for asking from saints/lesser people i dont agree with that either.

I can't see how shirk and using waseela are associated together. Shirk is calling on some being other than Allah for help. Waseela is asking Allah, and solely Allah, in the name/for the sake of his pious people.

As for the not asking the dead, you may be right, but as we consider Prophets and Imams as shaheeds, that theory doesnt really apply.

Q- Did God not use Prophets as a waseelas to mankind?

Thandy!!! What're you on. Logic is the basis of Islam! :-O

Dear Maniac,

I am so sorry I could not steal time to copy paste some aayat from quran which insist to ask Douwa using wasella of Mohammed and AAle Mohammed. But since you have vast knowledge of copy paste; i am sure you must have remember the aayat about Taravi prayer in Quran.
I recall the aayat for wasella is just few lines following the aayat of Tarave. Kindly paste aayat of Tarave for my guidance fromQuran thanks.

Other than this ravage has already given some other proves of using wasella from Quran.

sokoon
