Shiny Silverware

I got silverware 10 years ago that I have been using at home for everyday use but it has lost it’s luster.

Are there products in the market to restore silverware shine and are they worth the trouble?

Does silverware have a life span. How often do you buy new silverware?

Re: Shiny Silverware

it really does make a diff and can bring new life to silverware... there are many... i forget which one my mom uses... but ya.. it does make a diff

i buy new ones when i get tired of using the old ones... say ... the formal silverware starts being used for everyday and the everyday one is given to salvation army. get a new formal silverware set. sometimes use 2 silverware lines side by side.

Re: Shiny Silverware

Hey, i read somewhere, that rubbing cabbage leaves on silver will get rid of the build up, i don't have any silver wear to try it myself, but what's the harm in trying? cabbage won't go to waste!

Re: Shiny Silverware

Seen on tv. Clean it with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, supposed to work wonders and cheap too.

Re: Shiny Silverware

I am sorry guys - by silverware I meant everyday flatware. doesn't have to be silver.

Thanks Masi - I'll give it try

Re: Shiny Silverware

njgal , I normally dip the every day use cutlery in vinegar, water and salt ... or baking soda , like Masi said .. I think if you do that once in six months .. like leave them soaked in the water mixture for a good few hours and then wash each one giving a nice rub , it refreshes the color and brings some the shine to some degree ...
