I wrote this in reply to the sher other dude posted above.

Points raised by you need more time and writing effort which i doubt i can afford at this stage.
Nonetheless it is good to c you happy with the concept of azadari, even if its for a 3 day period. All the best.

So the Religious Forum is now turning into the Poets Corner!

I might as well join the club. How about this one:

To Be
or Not To Be.

Wah, Wah, Wah.

:k:

yeah i wouldnt agree with that...let the kid grow up..if he wants to do matam fine but dont force matam on him

I've heard that most people who cut their hand and bodies are uneducated and sometimes illiterates Shias. Is that true?

Most if not all of them do fit into those categories you mentioned above.

These practices have consistently been discouraged by the scholars and other respected figures, although, few people either ignore it or seem to disagree with it. Personally, i know that in Karachi 70% of these people come from either Panjab or Interior to practice this stuff. Most of these people are MOLAEE or MALANG.

As for my family (and most of the other educated/liberal shias i know), we go to one of those blood camps (set out all over Karachi by Eidhi, Fatimeed Foundation etc) and donate blood for people in need.

Cry? in what context? of Matam ? (I seriously doubt that).
if you are so well versed about Quran suggesting us to "cry" in context of "maatam" why don't you educate us?

I'm glad that you and your family doesn’t indulge in such practices. It’s really a big turn off

Shias are badd baad..

Keep in mind. Jihalat in Pakistan is on a rise , so dun be surprised if you witness any of these acts. Zanjeer ka matam is more of a cultural thing. Correct me if I'm wrong I really doubt in Iran you would see these type of Matams.

No doubt, the intentions of the shias are good but not sure about the approach(zanjeer ka matam) .

Rest God knows the best.
