In UofT here in the ISC where we usually go and pray, the shia and the sunnis usually pray in the same jamat. Interesting! Yes! We should aim for this harmony, praying together, bowing in front of Allah at the same time. No one calling each other non-muslim, bad-mouthing each other, killing each other.
I hope that Allah guides us all to being a united, strong and powerfull ummah so that we can encourage the good and forbid the evil.
salam.
is there a difference in the prayers? i mean physically? if not.. then why are there different masjids to begn with??
there is small differences in prayer noman but its not an issue, I usually end up praying with my sunni brothers in jamaat.

I pray with Sunni brothers all the time. At my university (University of Waterloo) I even give Adhaan. Sunnis here seem to be more open minded. I even have open discussions with them. The teach me and I teach them. We both have to learn a lot from each other.
I tried to the same by opening a thread but Alas, people started getting personal.
Ah well.

Yes sunnis and shias do pray together in foreign lands but go to a muslim country and it’s next to impossible.

What are the differences in prayer between the Shias and the Sunnis.
sunnis aisay parhtay hain jaisay unn k pait main dard ho raha ho..just kidding guys
Sheraz : AstaghFirullah.
Joking about it, you should be ashamed at yourself for making such crude remarks. The way we sunnis pray is in accordance to how our Prophet(SAW) prayed, so are you jokingly saying this about Hazoor(SAW) too. Dont get so blinded by your hatred of the sunnis that your cross the boundaries and start disrespecting our Prophet(SAW), think about what you say before uttering or writing.
maybe the difference is in our heads as my brother Sheraz displays.

zman thats YOU who believe Prophet prayed like that..if Prophet really did than we the shia would be praying like that..shias have the most respect and love for Prophet then anyone else..we are the true Ahle-Sunnah..get it
Forget that, can u match the example of London Mosque and the mosque here in Aberdeen where 28 nationalities with different maslak pray together under one roof.
The point was, Oh ! my brothers in Islam, making "remarks" about praying, even jokingly should not be done whether it is the shia sect or the sunni sect.

If You had some respect for Prophet(SAW), you would have never made stupid remarks on our beloved Sahabas in other posts who were closest in heart to our prophet. Gosh you are so childish.

well i have alot of respect for the Prophet, thats why i hate his enemies, his sahabas who killed His daugther..His beloved daughter got killed only 6 months after his death yet we dont know where she is buried..just shut the hell up if u dont know anything
Sahabas killed our Prophets(SAW) daughter. Man you better have an original source for that. Who, what, when and where did you get this info from. I need to know the Shia scholar who wrote this, give me his geneology, I mean prove it to me. You know that this is an awful thing to say about sahabis, especially if you scholar turns out to be someone less than authentic. Allah forbid, if death comes to you, what will you then say to Allah(SWT), you know what the punishment is for putting tuhmaat on the Ashaabi. Let Allah be the judge.
Allah knows best.
PS : This is probably my last post to you, so please take whatever you can from my post.
WaSlaam
zman dont be so ignorant..whats the basic difference between sunni and shia? why do shia's dont like these sahabis? not a single person from Prophets family is burried next to him..can i know why? could u tell me how Bibi Fatima died at a very young age? and how? and where she is burried? man i can go on and on but u will have no answers for me
i disagree, go to any mosque in saudi arabia and you will see sunnis and shias praying together. It’s definitely not unusual. There was a time during the Iranian revolution when there was some tension between Iranis, who happened to be shias and the Saudis, but the cause was political than religious.
Regarding the Hazrat Ayesha and the sahabas are evil etc etc argument, what does that have to do with Islam? I don’t get it. Why does it matter what happened after he died, As I see it, it was just a power struggle that was bound to happen, they were humans like us after all, doesn’t matter who was right or wrong, it falls outside the circle of Islamic discussion.
I agree with maani.. some people just like to create danga fasad in religion and divert the focus from what religion actually is.

Maani, I beleive that it also falls upon the government of a country to enforce unity between different sects. Either by negotiations or by dunda, our govt should work hard and strive to keep politics out of religion. Unfortunately our leaders are too busy with other things ..
