I am in karachi and my question is regarding shia sunni marriges.. I read in different websites and i also asked about this issue to many Ullmah but they all are saying that you can’t marry with a shia girls and if you marry the relation will be count in adultry.. My friend loves a shia girl and she also loves him.but the problem is fatwa of sunni alim.. can anyone help…??
Re: Shia Sunni Marriges are allowed or not plz help..
Never heard of any such fatwa from any sunni alim, you are being misguided.
Re: Shia Sunni Marriges are allowed or not plz help..
I don't want to start any "debate" here but just want to share things that i have heard. I apologize in advance if it hurts someone.
According to some sunni Ulma, they don't consider Shia as "Muslims" because of the fact that they have different kalma (some sects of shia) and even have some different believes. Thats the reason they say it that its not allowed to marry some shia, since they are considering 'em as non-muslim.
Re: Shia Sunni Marriges are allowed or not plz help..
Ok ... So Sunni men are allowed to marry Christian women and Jewish women on account of them being ahl-al-kitab, but Shi'ah women? Come on ...
Surely they are Ahl-al-Qur'an?
Disclaimer: I'm no scholar, these are my initial thoughts not my verdict on this matter.
Re: Shia Sunni Marriges are allowed or not plz help..
The Summary of fatwa given by alama is that... "you couldn't marry any shia or non-muslim girl even she is ehl-e-kitab because according to islam the views of spouse should be same otherwise marrige might be unsucessful and end up on break"
Futher he said that you respact Abu-Bakkar Razi'Allah while shia hated him. how could you compromise on that... So, its better to leave that girl may Allah give you better then her..

You see this way put ... now this seems like advice not a criteria for haram/halal.

If i had to see my younger brother marry a Shia... i wouldn't givea fig so long as the Shia was devout and believed in the same principles... the Shia have many sects like us Sunni's but i would not mind so long as she was of good and strong character.
I would rather he married happily with a woman who loved him, Shia's are no where near as bad as others.
I dont think it's against Islam either there have been many inter marraiges between Sunni and Shia. My own Uncle is Sunni and he is married to a Shia woman who is supportive of him so much.
Also many Sahaba believed hazrat Ali was greater that did not make them kaffir.
Allah knows best but i don't see it as against the faith.
I would think it was fine... if it was between Sunni and Ahmedi then i would rightly object becuase the latter is not even a sect but Sunni and Shia marraige is not illegal.

any muslim is not allowed to marry any non-muslim. Its not about "men" or "sunii" .. its about "muslims" and "non-muslims" ..

agree on almost every thing.
People gota understand the word "muslim" and its basic believes. As long as a person from "any sect" is on those basic believes then it does not matter which sect they belong to .. .. but if those believes are not according to "islam" then for sure he is not muslim and thats the reason that some ulama from some sects put some restriction of marriage and other things on other sects.
Remember, fighting on the things that which sahaba was greater, or who should have been caliph first is not something related to islamic believes. These are never ending arguments similar to different way of offering prayer in different sects. But as long as those sects fullfill the "faraiz" of a "namaz" they are good to go (i mean i would never argue on the thing that why din you do rafa-e-tain or why you did it) .. ..

Okay seriously back to the topic are there any examples of Sunni Shia marraiges in Islamic history and what were the reactions.
Surely there must have been some and what was the outcome?
Or if there were many outcomes what was the most common factor?
You questions are one of my points i was gona point out in ma pm.

Allah SWT said in Qur’an [Surat Al Baqarah 2:221]: "And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing slave woman is better than a polytheist, even though she might please you. And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe. And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you. Those invite [you] to the Fire, but Allah invites to Paradise and to forgiveness, by His permission. And He makes clear His verses to the people that perhaps they may remember.
Please correct me if i’m wrong. I couldn’t find anything in Qur’an related to a sunni can/can’t mary shia or its vice-versa. In Qur’an Allah SWT called Muslim(s) not by any other sect.
Allah SWT said in Qur’an [Surat Al Ma’idah 5:5]: “This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.”
Refer to first translation of Surah, it is clearly mentioned that muslims can’t marry idolatresses, disbelievers, untill they believe.
Allah SWT said in Qur’an [Surat Al Ahzab 33:36]: “It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.”
Now let me inlight what our four Imams (iyma-e-arba) said: that if anyone find my fatwa which goes against Allah SWT and against His Rasool
u may reject what we said.
Now Fadee! i hope u’ll find ur answer in first Ayat which i wrote above.
Re: Shia Sunni Marriges are allowed or not plz help..
Don't know why my post was deleted, all I said was, marry as long as their beliefs are in line with your beliefs, if there is even a minor difference in the basic beliefs, then your looking for trouble, not just for yourself but for your children. That's all.
