Thought I should update you guys. I had a beautiful baby girl on 2nd March weighing 6 pounds 13.
Also I have tried to BF her but she just wont take, I have even expressed some into a bottle and she spits it out. Any ideas on how i can over come this. I try every day to latch her on etc, had about 6 nurses help me to no avail. Baby has habit of sucking her bottom lip which looks cute but doesnt help me
Cant you get some help from the bfeeding dept in the hospital you delivered at? I know there are branches of La Leche League that help mothers overcome bfeeding issues…their website is LLLI | Home
Do you have milk flowing at the mo or is it still coming in?
Usually babies dont mind bottle feeding cuz its so easy… The biting bottom lip …was that normal according to the nurses helping you trying to bfeed? Some babies are tongue tied and cant suck at all… They need the thread holding their tongue down to be snipped a bit..its ordinary “surgery” … If we can eve n call it that…
Does she feed at all? She must be getting something…cant be going hungry ?
Has your milk fully come in yet? Some times it can take up to a week after delivery. I agree with Khawa, please contact your local breast feeding nurses and clinics. They will help you....
Whats confusing to me is... Its one thing if the baby struggles to get milk out of the breast....but shr is spitting milk out from the bottle asif there is something wrong with the milk....
Are you sure she is spitting it out and its not just leaking out whilst she is drinking? ( which could mean the nipple flow from bottle is too fast)....
Either way....those bfeeding consultants can answer every q ypu may have and also look at your breasts and feeding technique...
I think it was day 5 of motherhood when i had a complete bfing breakdown. basically my milk had not come in properly, baby would not latch properly, we would fight at every feed, she would fall asleep with every feed and so every feed lasted ages and by the time i put her down it would be time for the next one! i had had a c-section. things were rough. we supplemented with formula.
despite all of that, about two weeks in things got better and the process was smoother. i was constantly in contact with the lactation consultants, and they were very helpful. i did continue to supplement at least once a day. but i bfed until she was a year. keep at it as best as you can in this first month or so. then reevaluate to see how things are going. ask for help from the lactation consultants too.
I have been seeing a lactation consultant and khawateen u were right my baby had a tongue tie which has been snipped. I've started expressing and giving formula as I can't get her to latch on myself. Have been trying but have given up On getting her to latch on. When I go see the consultant she can latch baby on no probs but when I come home it's the same story.
Aww...um glad the problem has been solved... Yaar try and try again...but if its not working... Desnt matter.... Express when u can... And formula feed as supplement...
Like i say...they dont grow any smarter drinking breast milk over formula... Baby should just be happy and healthy and that is all that matters!

Happy feeding :)
Its just I had it in my head I would breastfeed but now that I'm having difficulty it has been upsetting. But hey if it's not meant to be then so be it. My baby will just have to have formula which I am fine with now :)
