sherwani

I think sherwanis look very elegent, The only time in my life that I wore a sherwani was on my wedding day. I liked it but have not worn it since, except for some portraits.

I am now contemplating on getting a nice sherwani tailored. But have no idea, what material, colour, etc etc etc. I want to keep it simple but different.

My brother had one made in slate grey with some texture to it in the form of black thin lines closed very close together. It looked very nice and although elegent, was very unique compared to the countless white. off-white and black sherwanis around.

My dilemma is that I dont know what to do on this sherwani subject.

any ideas?

Oi Fraudia, with my ancestory being Hyderabadi, I had no choice but to wear a sherwani at my wedding :)

I have a friend living in Sunnyvale who is going to Hyderabad (Deccan) in a couple of weeks. Send me a message and let me know what you want. I am sure he can oblige and get it to Chicago - somehow?. I believe fedex is quite reliable in Amreeeka :)

Yeah I think they are better looking that kurta and khusay bay faRR!

Khush Aamdeed Mohtaram Fraudia. I think you should get a nice Brocade (golden). It will be quite fancy and will suit you perfect. Try a matching Toupi also, like a capsized boat style. In addition, you need a white Romal in the top pocket of your Shirwani, a Gujra on your left wrist, and a nice gold watch to match all of it. Don’t forget to post your photo in the gallery.

ahmedji

thanks for the offer. I have found an expert sherwani tailor in chicago. It will be more expensive than getting it done back home, but I will have better control on fabric choices as well as fitting.

Once something is made and sent from Pakistan, if the neck is tight or the sleeves are short, u are kinda stuck.

my question is more on styles, coloyurs and fabrics.. I wanted to get it done in all weather wool and not raw silk...someone suggested other materials..not sure what is better and for what.

I just dunn wanna wind up looking like an extra from the sabri bros gang.

OffWhitish Cream would look good
no blacks or whites
Light Gray ones are kinda cool too

offwhitish ones are too wedding like, i agree they look very nice but i prefer dark colours in general. I look at old pics of my dad, as well as those of liaquat ali khan and quaid e azam and think that those dark sherwanis really were elegant. I dont want to do a light colour shades of black, greys and possibly very dark blues..but the big question is on fabric and texture.

you should ask Khawateen the resident fashion designer
