Sheikh Rashid survives armed attack

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid survived an armed attack on his election office here on Monday.
Sheikh Rashid received minor injuries on his leg when he fell on the ground at the time of the attack. However, four of his guards were killed in the attack.
Armed assailants carrying Kalashnikov(s) attacked Sheikh Rashid outside his election office when he was heading on foot to attend a public meeting.
Eaerlier, Javed Qureshi, the personal assistant of Sheikh Rashid confirmed the attack while talking to Geo News from 1122 ambulance in which Sheikh Rashid was being shifted to hospital.
President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered inquiry into the attack and submission of its report immediately.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also ordered the commissioner and RPO to investigate into the incident.
Some of the bullets hit the Land Cruiser of Sheikh Rashid shattering its window panes.
Later, workers of AML took to the streets to protest the attack.
Interesting this is that who could have done this?
PPP, Taleban and PMLN could be the culprits...but in the end PMLN is the biggest loser in all this...as they had the govt and Punjab and it was their responsibility to ensure the security of a candidate...I think PMLN should pay for this now!

Now it may be PML-N tactics as Shahbaz Shareef does believe in Badmashi style democracy and in government. or it may be someone who want to disturb the peace of the City, similar to karachi where they target one group so that can start tit for tat attacks and disrupt peace.
we need to think whether we like it or not sh rasheed, what it went according to attackers plans? and i guess if we also think on the lines of attacks on Benazir , frist attempt in karachi was failed and second attacked successful by attackers. now if the planners are the same then they would certainly try to do it again. and it will not be only sh rasheed on the list, it could be number of politicians
Without a doubt PML-N is behind this attack. Rasheed has been a big critic of them and after the well deserved embarrasment PML-N suffered in Mansehra, this was bound to happen.
Same old cheap tactics by Sheikh Rasheed to get noticed, i don't know if anyone ( in his senses) takes him seriously, i remember few days back in Capital Talk when Sheeda Tali ran away from discussing things with PML (N)... he has been part of almost all the govt from the start of his political career, from Bhutto to Zia to NS to Mushy and now he is looking for another buyer...

I am actually astonished on the popularity of Sheikh Rasheed after the attack, all the newspaper were filled with headlines and attack on him is discussed on TV from last 24 hours. Just watch the yesterday Bolta Pakistan, calls from all over the Pakistan, he is truly overwhelming popular among masses probably not more then Imran Khan but he is getting close.

Oh Please, it will take Imran Khan another 10 years to reach the level of Sheikh Rasheed not to mention IK has to undo his projects like Namal and Shokat Khanum...
I am not sure that he did it or not, but the kind of guy he is, nothing is impossible, he changed the route/plan and didn't informed the security personals about it, what was he upto? This is case of getting some sympathy and nothing more than that, remember PPPP got the sympathy vote in 2008 elections, Sheikh is trying the same tactic and had it be the real attack i am sure all his friends might have survived but he could either or get seriously injured...
BUT again if you have any sympathy with a guy who have 35+ years history of being a liar and LOTA, than yes everybody in Pakistan should be held for this attack...

You said it yourself and still dont believe about who could be behind the attack. Just see who is gaining in popularity and you will know who is behind the attack. PMLN cant be that stupid to calculate the risk of this attack. This could be self planned one. I dont see any reason why the killers ran away after killing only the 'friends' of Shaikh Rasheed, and he got hit only in the foot.
If PMLN is behind it, then they either need to hire better assassins or get some tips from MQM on how to eliminate opposition properly.
