just thought i’d click on one of those google ads…
wat u guys thnk? i think ther’e kinda nice, but only if they were heavily altered into something wearable!
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
yeaaaaaaa.... i dont think so :p
that last outfit is SUCH a don't! she's a model and she looks like she's got thunder thighs... anyone with a even remotely non-model body would look hideous!
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
^ I DID say "altered" :p
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
Depends on which one we’re talking about…are these Indian outfits, cause a lot of them look like they’re designed more for Indian tastes:

This could actually be ok with a different dupatta and a longer shirt.

This would look nice with a plain shalvar and a better fitted top.

This abomination, however, should never see the light of day again.
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
lol
true!
i guess the colors are not what i would choose but i could alter those too... hrm, ok, so i'd for them if i could "alter" them into a different outfit entirely! :p
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
u r right they should be altered.. i like the color combinations though...
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
I kind of like that one, but wtf is with that thing hanging off her waist???
If the shirt were longer, sleeves werent so sloppy and that waist thing…was actually attached to the waist. itd b a decent jora
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
i think its a belt but she's holding on to it instead of having it around her waist...

lol...so basically, you like the fabric, and would like to create an entirely new jora out of it. i agree, the kurta fabric is pretty :)
but i can't really say im a fan of the unlined, see through shalvar...i have no idea why they love them so much in india.

I think these’d be nice as mehndi joras…if they weren’t so bra-y and tight at the thighs!

I like this one…

Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
all of them look too filmy..
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
Maybe its just me then...I've never really been a huge fan of Indian fashion. Every time I've tried to go shopping in Delhi or Mumbai, I've been so throughly unimpressed by the offerings...except for real Kashmiri threadwork and authentic Lucknowi Chikan, I really don't care for anything I've seen there. I feel like the colors are too brash, and the embroidery lacks sophistication...even in the most high-end designer pieces.
I'll take Karachi & Lahore's designers over their Indian counterparts any day.
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
^ Same here for hte most part....but i love some of the partywear stuff I've seen in JH. I could NEVER find those in pakistan. But i like bridal-wear and casual-wear in pakistan. And indian churiyan. and pakistani jewelery (cant stand kundan jewelery). and Indian sarees are the hottest. Not at all like pakistani sarees.....b.asically ABCD style... I find Indian "casualwear" kind of weird, i bought a few outfits a few years ago, first the "shameez" only covered the bust...not the stomach OR the back. That reallly annoyed me. Dont know why i bought em.
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
^ I agree about the sarees…especially if we’re talking about about mid-range, non-designer stuff. Pakistan simply doesn’t have the same level of variety that you get in India.
But I have to say…some of our designers do an amazing job with sarees too…esp. Mehdi:

Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
Mehdi's designs are just fabulous to begin with.
but for sarees, i've seen such gorgeous ones in Jackson Heights...y oh y are htey so expensive! ok ill stop hawking them now lol
Re: Shehnaii Bridal wear
The blue and red sari looks nicest and most practical imo.
