My daughter is now 2 and half years old mashallah and since she was a baby she gates being in the bath. She screams cries is completely mental as soon as she knows I may bathe her. I tried doing it daily so that she gets used to it but she literally has some sort of hysterical fit.
What can I do. Its now tiring and exhausting to get her in the bath and I’m worried the neighbors may think we are beating her or something with the way she screams.
Do you have toys in there? Books? Let her sit in the bath and play for a bit? Take her shopping for a towel of her own choice, toys, and shampoo. Show her how to scrub her feet and hands and how you shampoo. Get her involved in the process so she gets enthusiastic about it. That might help?
Thing is she’s wayyy hysterical before I can even get her in the tub.she’s too busy screaming her guts out to kook at toys. She demands the towel (signaling the end of her trauma) as soon as I turn the water on
Hmmm. How about turning it into a bubble bath? Maybe fill the bath up with with foamy bubbles and then get into the tub yourself. Maybe if she sees that mommy’s relaxed and having fun, she’ll be more willing. Kids love bubble blowing jars. You can get that for her during bath time.
Play water games with her. Getting wet doesn’t always have to be in a tub. Have fun in the rain; it rains often where you live. Splash her with water balloons. So, she’s comfortable with water and getting wet.
They usually hate the washing the hair part the worst. Wash her hair at the end. Also, there is a visor like thing that babies can wear on their head to keep the shampoo from entering the eyes.
How you bath her under the shower or pour water over her, I observed my baby used to get panic when I pour water over her, then I started bathing her wth shower, she was happy.
Aariz would stop breathing if I put water on him with a shower spraying function.. I do the gentle stream and he loved it..samewith genie.. if u have a simple showerhead… Then get a small bucket and bathe her desi old school way… Some kids find the spraying water painful… Midget says it hurts. Andya… Wet and wash hair last.
did she have a bad experience at some point? perhaps got splashed or had water poured over her head, which often makes kids hold their breath for a second or two. this drives them to panic and they might remember the feeling.
everyone has given some really good suggestions…try them. perhaps you getting into the bath with her will calm her a bit…
