Among the deceptions of Satan is that he names the evil actions with names that are very pleasing to the human to entice him to take part in them. In this way, he dupes the human and makes a forgery of the reality of the situation. For example, Satan called the tree that was forbidden to Adam, “the tree of everlasting life” in order to make it appealing to Adam:
“[But Satan whispered to him saying, 1] ‘Oh Adam, shall I show you the tree of immortality and power that wastes not away?’” [Taha 120]
Ibn al-Qayyim stated, “From Satan, his followers inherited this trait of using names that are loved by the soul for forbidden objects. For example, wine is called ‘the mother of glee’, interest is called a ‘business transaction’, and taxes and tolls are called ‘the right of the government.’”
Today interest is referred to as profit; dancing, music and plays are called art.
Very true.....the only way for evil to enter a muslims life is through a clever disguise.
Thats why Allah SWT tells us in the Quran not to accept anything with eyes closed. We should ask for, and search for reasons behind each and everything.....the good and the bad.
If we delve deep into the things that Islam has to offer, we will discover the everlasting profits it holds for us, and will be encouraged to follow Islams teachings all our lives.
And at the same time, if we read into each and every thing Satan has to offer, we will discover that the benefits are temporary, and of superficial nature...and are usually destructive in the long run.
satan isnt the "same" satan anymore.. he has grown with time. while in the older age, when islam was being spread.. there was the question of faith... do u or do u know believe in Allah? now.. in this age... when u are muslim, u will never say "no i dont believe" b/c that will close the doors to paradise forever. but... will u practice the faith? many say: i'm muslim, but i dont pray. i'm muslim but i cant fast. i'm muslim but i ... etc etc . yet... they can do most other worldly things... are these works of satan? absolutely.
tis a matter of differentiating the good from the evil.. and that takes knowledge about ur enemy and their tactics.
