Shaving your face

do you shave everyday or once every week? I am not sure how a less lubricating foam would work with thicker hair and an everyday shaving process. May not be so smooth with such treatment.

Shaving against the grain will give you that smooth look but it will also give a lot of in grown hair and other painful experiences :) - though that all depends on your hair and skin type.

I normally shave every 2 days, though my brother and dad shave with the stuff every day. Buy 1 can and see if you like it or not after a week....

boys and girls with facial hair let me help you out here.

  1. The night before you shave, use the “art of Shaving” (can be found at stores like Barney’s) face scrub, concentrating on the T-Zone. This will exfoliate and tone the skin.

  2. When shaving, apply Kiehl’s (choose the type for your skin) shaving lotion, take your time to rub it in.

  3. Use a good razor, I have taken a liking to the Mach 3 turbo although sometimes, the Wilkinson sword from back in the day is good too. You might want to apply a couple of oats of the lotion if you also go against the grain for that ultimate smoothness.

:roman:

  1. Always shave post-shower.
  2. Use Aveeno shaving gel for sensitive skin.
  3. Get a shave gel warmer, me thinks conair makes one. I got it as a birthday persent and it's an absolute necessity. Give it about 10 minutes to warmup for best results.
  4. I've been using Mach3, it does a good job.
  5. If you have to use aftershave use one from Clinique for men line. They are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. simply put, they won't cause irritation and don't claug pores. They don't have any perfume that irritates.

Happy shaving.

mach 3 , hot water and gel best solution nothing beats it havent used the quatro so dunno :k:

Shave with grain and use a razor that doesn't go too deep into your skin. Try to go with twin razors than three. Wash face with hot water after and apply a face lotion to close the vulnerable pores. If all else fails, visit a barber and learn his techniques while he shaves your face.

Isn't shaving the beard un-islamic or am I at the wrong forum?

umm okay listen kids.
i,ve shaving since i was,, i dunno 7 or something....
go with the grain not against it, it wont make u any chikna, u,ll just end up looking like a khusra. cheegum... below the chin , on the neck, go with the grain,,, top to bottom.
the dont shave for 4, 5 days, and then just use a new sharp razor n shave with the grain, n stay that way.
i,ve used mach3... schick's 3 blade one...
sorry but I still reckon sensor excel is the best one, I,ve gone back to it again. taking a hot shower before shaving also helps. Stretching ur skin with the fingers before shaving that area gives u a closer shave.

any more questions,, feel free to ask :p

hi kaka!
man your post and tips are so right, i agree 100%
it seems ive been shaving my face since forever too...maybe since i was 13...us darned hairy asians!
i agree that Gilette Sensor Excel is THE BEST ever. it's much better than Mach 3 which inspitre of haivig 3 very nice blades and a nice lubricating strip,i think, has some serious design flaws. or perhaps its designed for thin bearded shaves...and if youy have side burns that you covet, youll have a topugh time keeping them in shape with a MACh3.

one thing i need to find out is that whats the right perfect way to shave the face especially under the chin and the neck...i mean should one shave in the direction the hair goes i,e, downwards or as some ppl do, once done downwards start with the 'ulta' shave in the opposite direction...? i never do that i only shave in the right down direction and thats why i think my shave is never as effective and close as many ppl and it often seems right aftre shave that i had shaved the last day...
i dont shave oppositte as i once heard in a documnetary that shaving in oppostte direction can damage the follicles, cause irritation and can create rashes and pimples and warts etc...
one more thing i need to find out...i generally shave with a 3day gap atleast...ppl are always on my case asking me to shave everyday...i just hate doing it everyday and my dada shaves daily on weekends too...i dont think thats envogue today most ppl just let it flow...whats the trend? i mean whats acceptable in todays era...whas the SOP?
yet one more thing...i have this problem with hair growing on my cheekbones too, they are thick but i dont shave them instead i have them threaded every few weeks...i dont shve em cause theyre not in the 'shaveable' territotory and if i shaved them id look wird with a weird shaped shave...im sick of the threading and careful shaving thats so tiring and time consummng as i have to be careful not to shave unshaveabl cheekbone hair...how many ppl have this issue or do i have some hair disorder...? ive thopught of laser but im not sure...i was actually thinking of buying one of those womens electric hair pluckers...

what say you comrades?
thanks!

whoa. i'm sorry to intrude in this thread, but can i ask a VERY stupid question from a female's perspective if no one minds please. This whole issue of shaving your face seems so unnatural to me. Does anyone mind if i ask, sorry, but - do you guys find shaving a waste of time? i mean, do you hate it? And how long, on average, does it take to shave?

Thank you,
a-curious-female

well Nadia,
not a dumb question at all! as far as i think, youve touched a topic very close to everymans heart!
when we’re kids we just cant wait to grow up and be able to shave. i often used to splash my face with my dad’s shaving cream and then play with his razors (minus the blades ofcourse:)) when i was little..but now…just dont ask! it is a big waste of time and a hassle! sure we love our stubble and its all about being a man and all, but it’s too much of a hassle especially for us with the thick shaves…
guess thats the reason many ppl dont shave everyday…nobody wants to and good thing it’s accepted normal in society today and can be called envogue, unlike until the 80s when a peeled off face was the only way you could get around.
and the time i take to shave…if it’s daily or with a one day gap, i guess 10-15 mins. if it’s a gap of 3-7 or more days quite longer.

good questions! :k:

That's not a bad idea, I used a tweezer yesterday and it took agesss and hurt like hell (I have very thick facial hair), face was throbbing with pain, I've still got my moustache to do...

well shaving ULTA below neck is pretty common...isnt it? i have been doing it for 10 years but i only shave twice in a week even though i have a reasonably heavy shave.. i know it is unprofessional but it hurts if i do it every day.....may be it is because i shave ULTA under the neck.....but if u shave "straight " below neck, u always feel that there are still some hair left.....i use mach 3, with a lot of shaving gel and hot water....

I have the worst shaving method. I know it is important to shave downward with the "grain." However, shaving downward still leaves a lot of hair. So I shave up, down, and even sideways. Did I mention that I don't use shaving gel. I just use water to soften it up before i shave.

do you folks name your razors like you name your cars?

Don't get mad, get GLAD. It keeps all your garbage in a secure bag.
