And your reference for above is from?
An semitic linguist and scholar of ancient scriptures here is Canada; obviously you will not take his comment seriously so what does it matter to you.

I might take it seriously, if he is truthful.
Re: Shaving The Beard:
i never tried to write quran and hadith myself. This topic is not a talking of local person nor my point of view. These are all the quran and hadith. If i tri to write it and i write a wrong word or miss even a single word from quran and hadith,u know it is a great sin.So i think it is better to copy paste a topic in which quran and hadith involve than write wrong ayat and hadith
The point is....its a discussion forum....... the whole idea of a forum is to have a platform where u discuss stuff in general , your point of view, your own thoughts. and then u provide reference in a forum as a link. i Think tha'll prety much solve the problem of messing up ayah and hadiths.
muali to iamhummad: stop copy n pasting and create your own hadith and ayahs.
^^Now wats tha suppose to mean????
Re: Shaving The Beard:
What is your point of view regarding this ayah or this hadith.......?(its like every single person on GS is a scholar so they have to comment on hadith and Quran. hypnotix-2000 to iamhummad: oh i'm a hadith rejector so i reject this hadith and btw I have my own translation of Quran so don't mess with me.
muali to iamhummad: stop copy n pasting and create your own hadith and ayahs. Light Bearer to iamhummad: Im just picking on you.
:D :D
Re: Shaving The Beard:
well we are arguing one way or the other so i guess every thing is going according to the plan.
Re: Shaving The Beard:
Isn't there a rule in forum that you must give your opinion to anything you psot, or maybe its not on this forum.
Does anybody know what kind of beard hazoor (saw) had?

Ok those who are objecting on this thread's orientation. Yes, primarily it is a discussion forum and healthy discussions for gaining more knowledge and understanding is the primary aim. However, copy pasting informative material is not prohibited. You can share religous stuff here with your folks and it is perfectly allowed. But we encourage member to give links to the source material and provide their own input.
Re: Shaving The Beard:
Plus like Ayaats , Hadiths should also be properly referenced !
Re: Shaving The Beard:

You trying to be me. What a joke. Madam I am very secular, I believe in equal rights for all religions and races reagrdless of what their scripture says the human being is still the same, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the perspective) you don't believe in these things so you cannot be me. So stop playing "me". I am perfectly capable of doing that.
Again go live in peace.
touche'
I wonder why?
Isn't there a rule in forum that you must give your opinion to anything you psot, or maybe its not on this forum.
It is a rule but as in politics everything is fair in love and war and religion.
Plus like Ayaats , Hadiths should also be properly referenced !
It is the rule.

Re: Shaving The Beard:
copy pasting informative material shouldnt and isnt a problem..as Code Red said..
ya this is a forum, not everyone wants to discuss, some prefer to read and add to their knowledge
take a chill pill guys and leave the poster alone, he's done nothing wrong and the way I see it, every person that reads his religious articles, he gets sawab for it aswell the person reading it
Re: Shaving The Beard:
1st - The only practical purpose of growing a beard serves is that in hot weather, the Beard acts like a shield against the hot winds and climate of Arabia
2nd - Shaving beard could cause infection to grow as there wasn't any proper sanitation.
But now we have Air Conditioners and Sun Screen to preserve our skin from the harshness of the climate and proper Anti-Septic and After shave lotions to prevent infections to happen and thus we can shave beards.

Purpose of growing beard isn't avoiding heat or sand....

Re: Shaving The Beard:
Agree with mercenary... The beard served a practical purpose.
Protects against sand, sun etc. Eventually it became a social practice...
Since Islam is a religon and not a culture, beards arent mandatory, or shouldnt be. Plus, whats the point of having beard in New York or Londan?
And the fact that there were no proper shaving implaments, made shaving a pretty painful process... A process best left undone.

The reason why Prophet Muhammad(SAW) ordered to grow beard wasn't bcoz of protection against sand or heat. You can shave your beard happily but please bring your evidence from Quran or Sunnah to refute the arguments and don't pretend like you know more than the Prophet(SAW),
Re: Shaving The Beard:
^^ the reason for beards was practical due to the harshness of the climate and later on it became a custom of Arabia
And since the Prophet had a beard as well, it is recommended but not required to grow a beard

Yaar im giving you factual stuff in regards to society...
The beard started out as natural order of things, men grew beards, why try to shave it of? It hurts when you do... Then it took on practical neccesity, then it became cutom and culture, and then it became part of relgion.
Im not taking religion into count here, I think relgion simply adopted the culture of the beard that existed long before the coming of Islam.
The Prophet may have simply refered to the custom of the day... Its a matter of interpretation. One has to wonder what the Prophet would say about a number of issues if he were living in this century. But in regards to the beard, I believe he was following the cutoms of the society he lived in. Considering we dont live in 7th century Arabia, a beard could hardly be mandatory.

Prophet Muhammad(SAW) ordered his companions to grow beard and trim moustache to be different from the mushrikin and jews.
