It's not you I was raving against, it's the people who wrote the sources like the ones that you quoted. They are utterly despicable.

Mr. Xtreme, separating state and religion in the Pakistani context is asking for a bit too much. At the end of the day we are a Islamic Republic and our policies and our choice of leaders should be inline with that. (atleast ideally :) )

Minerva,
There are so many sects all claiming to be muslims, no doubt all think they have a better claim than the other. I'm pretty certain that as the new Religion mod you'll become familiar with the amount of energy wasted on Shia v Sunni v Barelvi bakwas. Our choice of leaders should be based on their ability to lead in business, education, technology and moving Pakistan forwards not backwards. Leave the other stuff for the maulvis to argue about, it's what they do best :)
If he's not a Pakistani national or holds "dual" citizenship.. I don't particularly support his nomination as the Prime Minister.. but I am absolutely apalled at this religious thuggery demonstrated by the khudayee faujdaars.. who the hell made them God to inquire about anyone's faith..
IF the candidate is a Pakistani.. has lived there all his/her life .. (that reminds me.. BB supporters never objected to her not having lived in Pakistan).. is not a criminal (like them) and has a track record deserving of holding such an office.. more power to him/her.
hahahahaha
It is beyond me why MMA and their supporters can't believe that a Pakistani who is successful can be anything other than a Qadiyani. They have this inferiority complex that they just can’t get over. I hope they do know that relatives of their favorite General Zia were ‘Qadiyani’ and one of his personal physicians was a “Qattar Qadiyani”.
Anyway, I don't know if Shakat Aziz is/was ever part of Ahmadiyya jama'at, nor do I care. All I have read about him are positive things and that's what matters.
Ahnmadji Bhaijan, the doc of Zia you are talking about was my Chacha (who died a few years ago) and he was not only his doc, but also one of his ‘best’ friends. One other uncle who left Citicorp not too long ago used to hang out with Aziz and is his good buddy. Aziz may not be an Ahmadi, but he has a lot of good Ahmadi friends. Aziz is not particularly a religious type.
Hey, I would be willing to call myself Sunni muslim, if they give me some good job in Pakistan. I would even take managing detention centers and prisions.
