waccha gonna do

waccha gonna do when .......... runs wild on you?

Gentleman, the arrangements to watch the matches courtsey of Question are now complete. Can we now restrict our discussion to the actual tournament only.

PC Thanks for the info .. yep Ehsan this thread has turned into ‘how to’ watch Sharja tournament ..
Well here is my take on the tournament .. For NZ Chris Cairns, Dion Nash, Shane Bond and Shayne O'Connor are all missing from the squad, and spin bowler Daniel Vettori is suffering from a back problem. Lou Vincent just got injured .. this a team that does not depend too much on individuals but 6 of their starters are missing .. they wont be a force in the tournament , .. Sri-Lanka and Pak are on the equal footing .. Like I said before SL has the second best batting lineup and I would expect a 300+ performance from them .. and they know how to handle Pak .. pace is not a problem for them .. for Pak opening partnership is the key .. who will open? I think Afridi (although I have no faith in him) and Imran Nazir (will he make something of the opportunity) .. should step up .. bowling as usual is not the week link .. but for Lanka we have match them in the batting dept .. given the Sharja factor I would say Pak is favorite right about 50% .. Lanka 45% and NZ 5% ..

Hey one more thing
These things are hard to explain
For some it seems strange... to swallow
The frontier of our minds
Is the last place we find
But maybe the first place we should go

I think Afridi and Nazir should start... It would a good match against SL... fun to watch

youhanna is injured

Yo-Yo injured = we're screwed.

Could the selectors have come up with a more pathetic and unstable opening pair as Nazir and Afridi?

PIA won by 6 runs without Youhana.. hmmm

How badly is he injured? Is he out of the Sharjah tournament?

not serious enough to hold em .. jsut a minor pulled/soar groin .. he is expected to recover in time ... abstain from hanky panky

It looks like Younis Khan is also on an injury list, even worst than Youhana.
His back was hurt in the semi-final of the domestic one day tournament.
Youhana has a groin injury. Both of them have not fully recovered.
It is best not to play both of the players eventhough these days Pakistan's batting order depends on Youhana so much.
If they play these two players before they are 100% fit then it will lead to more serious injuries and I don't think we can risk that before the Newzeland series.

One good news, Saeed Anwar is 100% fit to play for Pakistan against Newzeland Series in Pakistan.
he is still practicing in the nets and trying to get back in good form.

I would say the reasonal replacements for Youhana and khan would be Mizbah ul Haq and Faisal Iqbal.
But the biggest question is that who will open with Afridi, lets not bring back Taufeeq or Naved Latif, both of them have given enough opportunities.

Shoab Malik sounds like a good candidate as an opener but you never know.

Whatever happend to the much anticipated M.Zahid, he didn't get a chance to play a single match against Westindies and now he is not in 15 player squad.

One suggestion for the guppies who are going to be watching cricket on web courtesy of Question. Lets chat here on gupshup chat room, if anyone has any problems watching the match, and can ask for assistance and also talk about the match at the sametime.

Since I wouldn't be able to watch the live version of the match, I was wondering if it will be replayed the same night, if that is part of the package.

i have classes in the eveing so i’ll miss the 2nd inings…

btw taufiq played very well in the local matches,

but nazir is packed with talent

Imran Nazir should open with Afridi. He is a brilliant player if a little impetus.

Imran nazir I personally think is the best and most exciting fielder in pakistan, its always a joy too see him fielding at the gully.. He is a pakistani jhonty rhodes..ofcourse he needs to work on his direct hits..

About his batting , he is talented no doubt, but not at all consistent and I wont be surprised too see 2 wickets down(afridi and nazir) within first 15 overs. These two guys are very explosive and nazir like afridi tend to get excited after hitting a boundry. We need more stable batsmen but if these two young guys can stick around the first 15 overs and more, consistently, then inshallah we can beat anybody! Our biggest problem is to find an opener and saeed anwars injury was the worst that could happen to pakistani opening line up...

i don't like this opening pair: shahid afridi and imran nazir.

both are technically incorrect. if you recall all the big innings imran nazir has played have been second chances. meaning if he is dropped in the slips in the first 5 overs then he goes on to play a big innings. even in the national one-day championship in pakistan he was dropped in the initial overs. he always has to have a life in the initial overs.
this is a sign of a technically not correct player.

and shahid afridi unko to rehnay do. huggna kaam kay unka. plus he's going to have even more trouble now that the bowlers are allowed to bowl one bouncer per over. and he's in all sorts of problems when facing short-pitched deliveries.

i hope saeed anwar is fit before the world cup.
