Sharing Food ..

Do you like sharing food?

Like not dawats or parties type sharing … but say you have taken lunch to work and your colleagues each want to have a taste … would you share on a day to day basis?

Or say you and hubby have gotten back from work and are having dinner, he takes a good bit out of your chapati or rice … and you got to go warm up some more , would you do it?

Re: Sharing Food ..

When i worked, I shared with my colleagues. If they want a bite of what i've got, they can absolutely have it. But when it comes to day-to-day basis, i dont think people actually share much, you cant do that EVERY single day. Its not very polite and nice to actually ask your colleague every next day to help finish their lunch. =)

And the latter, i have absolutely no problem with it. Besides when you are at home, you have enough warmed up for everyone in the house.

Re: Sharing Food ..

I dont mind sharing but not day to day basis.

Oh what i DO mind… When u ask someone if they want what u are about to make and they say no… So u make enough for ureself… Get ready to eat and they suddenly they want some too…ooooooo that really riles me up!!! Especially if i am really hungry and the food is too yummy to share. It sounds funny…but it isnt

Re: Sharing Food ..

  1. Not on a day to day basis, unless it is a good friend.

2.Yes i would.

Re: Sharing Food ..

In any case, I wouldn’t mind if hubby takes food from my plate even if before he said he’s not hungry and I just heated enough for myself.

As for everyone else, I would love to share, as long as when I ask “would you like some,’ they say YES. I absolutely hate it when you ask, the answer is no, but than when the plate is made than the answer is " okay, maybe, I’ll just taste a little.” :vivo:

Re: Sharing Food ..

**with family yes, i do share but it happened too many times back in my student life. i was living in one of the residences of AligaRh Muslim University and it’s a tradition there to RESPECT senior students to the core.

we used to get miThaaii at dinner twice a week [thursdays-jaise faqeeroN ko miltaa hai har jume’raat ko :cb:, aur sunday ko jaise church se tabarruk mile :cb:] like Gulaab Jaamun or Barfii or Qalaaqand along with one roTii and do boTii :cb:

i was eating in the dining area and had a plate with two Gulaab Jamuns in it. two senior students came in and i stood up, said salaam and said “aaiye, khaanaa tanaa’ul farmaaiye”…to bole…“we just had dinner and not very hungry but we can have ur Gulaab Jaamun” :frowning: They took my Gulaab Jaamun and out of respect i had to say “zahe naseeb, shukria k aap aaye” :frowning: OMG…felt like killing them :D**

Re: Sharing Food ..

At work....there have been several times that I've offered a bit of my lunch....but it's usually something like a "side" or a "dessert" like chips, candy bar, etc. And no it wouldn't be on a day to day basis. And I'll be honest, there have been times when I'm really looking forward to a delicious treat...that there may not be much of...and I don't feel like sharing it with anyone.

Re: Sharing Food ..

1) No - I dont like it at all ......

2) If you need it - go and warm it up yourself - jumping on some one's plate is just out of etiquette..

Re: Sharing Food ..

NO and NO

:snooty:

Re: Sharing Food ..

phew … I am not the only one … my answers are no and no too :omg:

I think Khawateen is spot on in her comment .. meri raam kahani bi ye-ii hai :(… I hate it when first anyone in the family gets asked if they want anything they say no , then the minute you prepare your plate they want some :smack:

Re: Sharing Food ..

Puttar you look like you passionately hate sharing :hmmm:

Re: Sharing Food ..

i dont like sharing food too......MY FOOD IS ONLY MINE....

Re: Sharing Food ..

They used to sell potato chips and cookies and stuff during lunch time as snacks, so I would buy a little pack.....all the kids would aks me for some and u know it was a teeny tiny pack and by the timje each had one it was all gone for me. And if I dared refused, they would call me names and stuff. :(

Re: Sharing Food ..

hmmph, i was at my parent’s yesterday and my mum had bought my sister some jelly pots. me and my brother convinced her to let us have one (to share) but mr.stoppit came and snatched it away and ate it all

Re: Sharing Food ..

See thats why i say sharing is an evil act :naraz: .. unless the other person has consideration for you , DONT Share food :sahar02:

Sara and Stoppit , the same happens with me too .. the other day I managed to make the tastiest pasta ever … I brought some to work , and decided to have lunch at my desk .. and every one wanted a taste … so I ended up with just quarter of my mazai ka pasta .. rest all went to people

Re: Sharing Food ..

This just remnded me of my dad lol…

Now my mom is known for her cooking…my dad always takes lunch from home… Lunch time, him and his collegues all eat together and do share food… Man the amount of times dad would come home pissed and hungry as hell cuz everyone would eat his food (quantity was never enough), and dad couldnt eat theirs cuz in his words " saalo ki biwion ko risaalo se fursath ho tho kuch dhan ka banae na" :d so that meant his food would be gone in minutes and what his xollegues had to share would be left over. (we’ve been to his collegues houses for dinner, horrible food)… So what does my dad do now? He has lunch in his room behind a locked door and introd a dept lunch once a week where one person would bring food in from a takeaway…no home cooked food … Take turns every thursday (live in arabia so last workweek day)… Ab thora sukoon hai haha …good food and get to have the dept together once a week :cb:

Re: Sharing Food ..

Ohhh man … Khawa thats my issue too … they dont make food at their place but want mine

Even if they make food i cant share coz its not halal

So now I just take enough quantity for me … and I eat lunch after everyone’s had their food :snooty:

Re: Sharing Food ..

Lol… Ive never worked anywhere where they shared food…but then again it was in the fashion industry and women never ate :hoonh:

Re: Sharing Food ..

haha ..khawa its not like sharing , its more like stealing :naraz: … The gora’s have a simple policy , they say it on the face … things like " oh i dont have enough to share " or " I have only got enough for me"

Problem is , I cant freaking say that … I cant be that cruel , so its guth guth kai mar jaao bi for me :crying: and our asian food is so aromatic , it makes anyone hungry ! believe me , the days I take biryani with me .. they are literally keeping an eye on me as to when i might step out for lunch :omg:
