Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

:hehe:

FYI - the CJ was one of the judges that validated/legalised Musharraf’s military coup in their judgement in May 2000.

^ For your visual pleasures (oops, not pleasures but probably displeasures):

From: http://www.icj.org/news.php3?id_article=2584&lang=en
“On 27 January 2000, the new Musharaf government gave instructions to judges in Pakistan to take a fresh oath of allegiance to the unconstitutional army-led administration. Chief Justice Said-uz Zaman Siddiqi and about 20 other judges, including five Supreme Court judges, have refused to take the new oath. Harsh measures were taken against these judges and the Chief Justice himself was replaced. The CIJL is aware of at least 34 judges and lawyers who were murdered in Pakistan during the last three years.”

This is how CJ approved a dictator’s rule

**Supreme Court validates Musharraf military coup - May 12 2000 **

Islamabad - Pakistan’s supreme court on Friday validated the military take-over by General Pervaz Musharraf last October on the grounds of necessity, but ordered civilian rule to be restored as soon as possible. The full court headed by Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan rejected petitions filed by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League and several others challenging the October 12 coup. The petitioners had pleaded with the court to declare the take-over illegal and restore the suspended constitution and parliament as well as the ousted government. The military regime accused Sharif of misrule, authoritarianism, corruption and ruining the nation’s vital institutions.

The verdict by the top court was announced after 10 weeks of hearing the petitions. - Sapa-AFP

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

Arhay bhai. A man that knows he'll be deported, still gets on the plane and still goes to Pakistan? He was thinking that with the CJ's green light, he'd be able to come back in and that Pakistanis would burst barriers if need be to get him in. I'm not saying he thought for a minute that Mush would usher him in with rose petals. I'm saying, something told this guy that he had a chance, otherwise he would never have set foot on the plane. I wouldn't be surprised if Mush made a deal with CJ to make pro-Nawaz statements, just to trick him into coming and embarrassing this guy. Now Nawaz has nowhere to go. For some years. That's pretty sweet, if you're Musharraf.

Actually, its pretty sweet for everyone concerned. This drama-baaz should never be allowed back into Pakistan.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

mushy could stage a coup against a seedha-sadha sharif- he wouldn't have been able to do the same had zia been the PM.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

Again, Nawaz choose to leave the country.

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

Benazir is still a looker. Even at 54. FACT.

Re: Sharif gets ‘cold’ reception at Jeddah.

EEEEEEEWWW…

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

Wow. I can’t believe CJ validated the so called illegal rule.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

There are no saints in politics, but at least CJ will be remember for standing up to a criminal dictator where Mushrraf will be remember as just that, a criminal dictator. On related news, CJ approval ratings are around 75% where Mushrrafs approval ratings closer to Bushs approval ratings in low 30s.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

^ CJ should take actions against leaders that have approval rating of less than 75%, and get rid of their illegal rule.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)
