Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

Hope he’s feeling sorry for his mistakes…esp the one he tried to make on the evening of 12 Oct 1999…but I doubt he even realizes he’s made any mistakes during his crystal clean political life and times…:emmy:

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

people choose to believe what they want to believe meri jaan. No one is poorly informed in today's world.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

He made a blunder worse than 12 Oct 1999, because now he has trapped himself and his family. He is now a virtual prisoner in Jeddah, and whatever the Supreme Court now says is redundant as he will not be allowed back until December 2010. Then if his brother Shabhaz visits him in Jeddah the Saudi’s will probably hold himself as well, and if he visits Pakistan (without Musharraf’s agreement) then he will be deported there as well. From his prison cell in Atoock in late 2000 Nawaz made the agreement with Saudi’s and Lebanese (after the UAE ruler turned him down), so he now he has to live with it, and the consequences.

Interestingtly the only way the PML Nawaz party can now survive is if his brother makes a deal with Musharraf to return to Pakistan just after the Presidential elections. Maybe that is why Shahbaz really chickened out at the last minute and did not return? In true desi tradition where family members will step over others (incl siblings) to get ahead, I believe Shahbaz will do just that.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

Why do people want to make deals with the so called dictator

Sharif gets ‘cold’ reception at Jeddah.

looks like Nawz Sharif will feel at home in Suadi Arabia.

He was living close to US Embassy in London, and now he is living close to US Consulate in Jeddah.

I am sure he won’t miss the kebab houses down Edgeware Road, with the local stuff available to him.

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

[quote]
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received a "cold" reception from the Saudi government when he reached Jeddah and has apparently been barred from taking part in any political activity for the remaining period of his exile. Sharif, who was deported on Monday within hours of landing here after a seven-year exile, was received at a terminal meant for Saudi royals but was not taken to the Saroor Palace, where he and his 20 family members had stayed for six years since 2000 under a "deal" with President Pervez Musharraf. **Instead of the royal palace, Sharif, 57,was reportedly taken to his own mansion located near American Consulate.

It now appears that Sharif might have to spend next three years in Jeddah where he may be held incommunicado, media reports said.**

I have been saying exactly the same thing as soon as Nawaz's flight departed for Jeddah. He committed one of the biggest blunders in his political life by trying to return to Pakistan and shamelessly ignoring the Saudi's, because whilst in the UK he at least was still allowed to carry out his political activities. Now in Saudi he will be a virtual prisoner unable to carry out any political activities till probably until Dec 2010 when the deal expires. In effect he his political career is totally finished, and to top it off he is now living practically next door to the US Consulate in Jeddah!

He has put the rest of his family, especially his brother Shabhaz in dire political straits as well. For if Shabhaz visits Nawaz in Jeddah the Saudi's will keep him there as well, and if he dares go to Pakistan he will be flown to KSA as well, and then the whole family will be finished politically. Ironically, Shabhaz will have to make a deal with Musharraf to go back to Pakistan safetly, which is probably why he stayed back in London?

Sharif isnt that bright. Bhutto atleast is smart, even if she is a thief. A sexy thief mind you.

Disturbing

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

Call me crazy, but this sounds like a mastermind plan by the genius Mush himself. I mean, what would motivate Nawaz to come back to Pakistan when he had the Saudis and Musharraf telling him to stay where he was? Someone had him convinced it was the right move. All the pieces fell into place and now Nawaz can't do anything - he probably wont be able to influence the APC in any way, which was becoming a slight problem to Mush's power status. Plus, Mush showed down the Supreme Court, showing the real power is in his hands.

It all falls into place and Musharraf gets all the advantages...coincidence? I think not...

Haha! Pakistani politics.

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

I second that.

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

wow another conspiracy theory that fails the test of reality.

Nawaz knew he was going to be deported on his landing. That is exactly why he left Shehbaz Shareed back in London. Moreover, Khawaja Asif said the same thing on TV some days back.

So the basic premise in ur theory is faulty.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

Actually the question should be why is Musharraf making deals with criminals? Ever thought about that? I bet NO!

Re: Sharif gets 'cold' reception at Jeddah.

I think that is pretty much on the mark. Nawaz was under the mistaken belief that he would be welcomed by "millions" of people, and that the govt would never deport him to Saudi Arabia - worst they would just throw in prison. He seemed visibily dazed and shocked when they did not let him out of the airport. As for Shabhaz he stayed back because he knew he could take advantage of anything that could happen to his brother, and now he can turn around and say "only I can lead the party as they won't let Nawaz back". This is what Musharraf wanted from day one.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

CJ should put a stop to all this nonsense and get rid of President Musharaf. Why is he not doing that. If anything, the CJ as saif the President is an honest and sincere person. CJ nay meri umeedon par pani phair diya hai. After I heard that I was depressed for a week. It makes my blood boil.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version

I haven’t read details on how and why Busharraf’s rule became legal, may be it was “legalised” after the (s)elections in 2002… for legal purposes it may have become one now, but the origin is still illegal.

apni umeedon se kahayn kashtiyan na badlayn, kabhi Busharraf ke saath hoti hayn kabhi kisi ke saath… paani to phiray gaa na phir :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

^ If the orgins were illegal, why did the CJ validate and make President Musharaf’s rule legal. It makes my blood boil. Only CJ can save Pakistan. Why is he not doing anything about it and getting rid of President Musharaf now.

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)

only if a CJ can write laws… may be in your lala land? :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Sharif arrives in Jeddah - Saudi Version (merged)
